Super super nice guy. Have met him twice. I was telling him how his movie, To Heal a Nation, made my father cry and that was the only time Ive seen that happen. He was genuinely touched and thanked my dad for his service. His wife did not seem to remember that role (she was with him), so he told her about the character he portrayed. Lovely man.

I once knew someone who told me that she was actually in one of Eric's movies. She told me that it was one of his lesser-known movies and that she had a very small part. She told me that he was REALLY nice and came around and talked to everyone on the set.

I remember that movie, I was in New York to see Eric on Broadway in "Burn This", in which he was brilliant, To Heal A Nation was on the TV supplement cover of The New York Times, which I purchased the same day. I got the DVD of the film the following year in the UK. It was a moving and inspiring story, beautifully acted, I can understand if your Father was a veteran how it would move him deeply. His early work was sublime, he looked set to be a superstar, he had the looks, the talent, the charisma, then after Runaway Train he seemed to slide into junk movies, straight to DVD flics, or some that were just a poster and never made it to cable. Yet he has always bounced back, there is something indestructible about him, a spirit of daring, danger, he seems so f*****g alive, I really admire him, if you could chose anyone to have a drink with ... so many Hollywood actors have near perfect CV`s, are sensible, tasteful, controlled, and as boring as f***k. Eric seems larger than them all, that streamlined, conformist, conventional career planned by an agent and a business manager seems too predictable for Eric`s wild and passionate nature. He`s faced addiction, and all the pitfalls and dark journeys it leads you to, and as you say he has fought back, Christ if work is an ethic to be admired Eric`s a super hero. He is unique, I love the guy, when he dies he will of actually lived! The worlds a better place for his being in it. Respect.
