As a life long wrestling fan, this movie made me sad. Take note, they didnt make any embellishments to their story. In fact.. they actually took out some of the tragedy of the real life Von Erichs because the real life story is just too sad 😭😭
@lizd.865510 ай бұрын
I often want to cry watching interviews with Kevin von Erich. The saddest thing he ever said was that "I'm not even a brother" after he lost his last one. I'm sure there are many people that blame Fritz but Kevin isn't one of them

This movie is so good, can’t say I recommend it unless you are prepared to be completely emotionally destroyed. The one thing I wasn’t prepared for was how well it captured Emotional Parentification. It really was such fantastic storytelling. I grew up in Texas in the 80s. I’m in my 40s now and I’ll find myself stilling and thinking of ways to escape the dreaded “IRON CLAW”. Feel like if you had an older sibling that use to practice it on you, you should be entitled to financial compensation 🥴🤣😉

i remember when the von erich's were "kings of the ring...." makes me sad for all of them the way things turned out and while all the "glory" is of father and son's.....nothing is said about a mama who lost all her babies and how she dealt.....can't even imagine what it had to have been like for her as well!!!

David Von Erich was also married and had a child with his first wife who was born in 1978 and passed away still born same year. He divorced his first wife and got engaged to another woman until his untimely death in February 1984.

Great movie, obviously the movie had taken some liberties but i gotta say finding out there was a 5th brother was absolutely heartbreaking. You felt so beat up by the end of the movie after what happened to everyone as was. Portraying what happened to Chris as well honestly might of pushed the film into snuff porn territory. It was emotional and devastating enough when I watched it in the cinema with no knowledge of the family

That's why the producers didn't include him in the movie. Just another depressing ending.

@Mr.DeStylez: it’s the same thing for wrestling fans with this movie as it is for every history fanatic who watches a historical epic. It will never be close enough to reality for you to actually enjoy it. It never is, I have to disagree with you on you’re assessment of the film but I say that as someone who was unknowing of the Von Erich story before I watched the film But it’s always the case, people who are really engaged hobbyists or who’s work is involved in medieval history despise films like Braveheart, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, El Cid, tv shows like Vikings or the last Kingdom. Even something like Mel Gibsons the Patriot or Appocalypto. history fans can’t help but say how wrong everything is because they know or have a idea of what the reality is or should be You being as familiar as you are with the story. The film is going to variate from what you know is fact to benefit the story and structure of the movie. I don’t discount what you say about the film, I just don’t agree with most of it, like I did think Jeremy Allan White was really good in the movie, then I saw the real Kerry and laughed a bit because White really wasn’t a patch of what Kerry was physically (man was a absolute specimen) but I still enjoyed the movie besides. It’s not flawless when you know the true story. But I massively rate it especially the first time I saw it and even now knowing about the real Von Erich’s, who I would never have learned about without the film

Technical advisor Chaco guerror junior deserves acknowledgement for how good the wrestling in the film is done. Chaco like the Von Erichs is from a legendary Texas wrestling family that has seen its own far share of tragedy including Chaos uncle Eddie during of a heart attack at the height of his in ring career.

Seems bizarre to leave out the other brother ! Biopic movies become that story out in the ether and pretending one brother didn't exist seems like a huge disservice to the guy ...
@simplysteve6810 ай бұрын
Yup, just think if Jack Jr had lived, he would've probably been known as Fritz Jr, if he'd gone into the business. 🤔 Also, Chris was kinda like a mini Kerry, but his bones were really too brittle to be a wrestler, yet he was sort of forced to perform and even had Chris Adams carry a few matches with him (Adams would wear the opponent down, just long enough for Chris to get the pin! 🤦), was a bit embarrassing to watch.

I don’t get it. How can you really win in this type of wrestling that is fake and show? Aren’t those fights directed and negotiated between fighters prior? This is not real wrestling.
@destronia12310 ай бұрын
Should have been a TV show, not a movie. Directors have no right to change the facts of reality for convenience. Or else don't call it a biopic - it's entirely a work of fiction.

@destronia12310 ай бұрын
@thechickapedia1175 Those "liberties" are an indication of the hubris of the "artists" that make these biopics. They're too unispired to create an original story and too arrogant to stick to the facts if they conflict with their "vision."

I thought the movie absolutely sucked and I probably know more about the von erichs and Fritz wrestling promotion than most people here combined. It left out so much and too much to take seriously, made things up, dropped a brother. Had some of the worst actors of all time to play people like Flair. Holt played fritz amazingly but that's were my plaudits end. if you really want to cry, watch the world class documentary its on youtube.
@dwightyboy53246 ай бұрын
Couldn't agree more. It's baffling how much praise this movie gets, it was a mediocre at best movie. I get leaving some things out, but a real life brother who suffered a tragic fate too? And the reason the director gave was basically him saying it would've been too sad? Absolutely ridiculous. Add to the fact most of the brothers didn't even come close to accurate, it was just a disappointment. It's basically only made for people who don't know the real story, WCCW, or just don't watch wrestling in general.

@brentatbluenovaproductions213610 ай бұрын
Less "Fake" and more like training sparring in martial arts. There is still real risk of injury, you're still gonna get hit/slammed, it is gonna take a toll on your body over time. Nothing fake about someone in decent to great athletic shape slamming you to the mat, landing a kick to your chest or face while you run at them, or jumping onto you from a 4 foot top rope.
