He has proven himself to be a shameless oppertunist and unreliable coalition partner, and was responsible for handing municipalities back to the ANC to settle petty political scores with the DA. If there are inadequacies in our justice system, I believe we should work hard to fix them, but we should not be scared to take radical steps such as deterring the motives of those who sort to deny others the right to life, by taking their own lives. It may not be the most progressive and intelligent option but it sure will deter those who dare to think of taking a life. After all it's the same people with money who buy those with no money to do the deed, so by not effecting death penalty we are actually affording them a bonus to their deeds as they can even afford not to get caught, one the other hand those without money will not even dream of killing. Overall the lesser people think of killing the better.

Gayton talks the Big Talk. 1.I respect the fact that he is prepared to admit when he is wrong and changes his views. More politicians need to do that. Having said that...... 2.A Dictator, benevolent or not, by definition, opposes and squashes, dissenting voices. You can be a dictator with your own money and your own companies, but not with other peoples money and lives. I am very sceptical of people who sincerely believe they know what is good for you, and they will give it to you whether you want it or not. 3.Very ironic when a self-professed dictator has a problem with Helen Zille, whom he views as a Dictator... He has a problem about the DA not backing down, when he himself refuses to back down. I sense a bit of self-reflection.... 4.The border needs to be secured first. To enforce mass deportation of illegal immigrants, using the current corrupt and incompetent inland services, custom official and police services, is at best wishful thinking. It will open another avenue for bribery, corruption, human trafficking and xenophobic tensions. It will give politicians fodder to gain populous support. 5.To introduce the Death penalty into a system that has a very poor arrest and conviction rate, is pointless and problematic. First improve the police's arrest and investigative functions. 6. I would like to see a platform where the possible coalition parties, civilly and respectfully thrash-out and debate their policies. The politicians need to be asked questions and have right of reply to one another's comments, immediately. This, he-said she-said to-and-fro, is frustrating and lends itself to word games and innuendos, that allows politicians to get away with exaggerations and half-truths.

While I agree with you on the risks associated with any form of dictatorship, I do not know many countries that advanced radically under absolute democratic rule. Especially in multicultural, multiracial and predominantly uneducated society like ours. I don't know but I am of the view that countries such as Libya had a better chance of advancement without external influence. The same will go for Rwanda, Tanzania and so on. The important thing is to radically educate the people and choose better leaders. Just my thoughts
