Really clear video, unfortunately it doesn't work in 5.4 (multiple step-throughs attempted but the head still floats free of the body.)

I have a problem, I've made a animation sequence with body and facial expressions but when I "baked animation" and opened it the body animations were playing but the face was static. What do I need to do? I also baked the facial as a pose but unsure how to combine them.

Oh man, so close to my use case. I have mixamo animations for the body and head and want to add expressions to the face and head rotation. I'm sure the results will give me nightmares, but in the meantime, I can find this really useful. Not sure I've seen this scenario in YT or your playlist.

I have a library of animations, I barely use Mixamo. If I can make time, I try it and record.

@@Jobutsu I suppose the source doesn’t matter. As I have it now I have a retargeted animation I drag into the body animation asset and when the BP plays the body does it’s little dance and the head with its head and facial animations plays but unattached to the body. I will go through to make sure I didn’t do something wrong but is this what should be solved in your technique?

For anyone else dealing with some non-working head rotation still, make sure the second layer bled node's NOT also set to blend with mask but rather branch. I duplicated the nodes after I changed the value.

wow, such a process, the day they make animating metahumans as easy as it is to animate iclone characters, ill actually mess with them

This characters head was animated using iClone 8. Use the tools you need to use to get the job done.

Where can I find body animations such as the idle one and other standing animations? When I search for idle nothing appears…

I am using version 5.2, followed the tutorial to the letter, added a mixamo idle animation in sequencer, then an SDK voice to the face, but the head still separates from the body? Any help?

In the latest version of unreal engine (5.1.1 as of today) this doenst work on its own. You need to tell the sequencer to use the AnimBP in order for this to work. Otherwise everything else works as expected.

Here is a weird fix for those struggling with 5.1.1 follow the steps in the tutorial but also sue the MovieGamePipelineGamemode, fixed the issues for me!

Can you make tutorial how to take body animation from iClone as you make for face animation? I'm looking for knowledge how to animate my metahuman via iClone. I found your great tutorial for face animation and how to split body and face animation. I found tutorial how to get PLASK animations to iClone but I don't know how to add only body animation from iClone to my metahuman and then record face animation.

Everytime i hit compile in Animation bp it crashes UE5.3. I dont even have to alter or edit anything. If i open up Animation bp and just hit compile it will crash UE. So im stuck on how to get around this.

thanks a lot , However when I use animation to the face (Face_Anim_BP) for livelink , the metahuman head and neck break and merge into each other..any help would be appreciated. and thank you in advanced, note the face from Metahuman and DAZ body

I have the same issue but I have it at runtime, I apply live lip sync amin to face while body is doing idle amin. But your trick only works for the editor/sequencer and not in runtime. Do you have any idea for how to get it to work at runtime ?

It is difficult to say without the problem in front of me. So your animations are running inside blueprints correct ?
