"Why weep ye by the tide, lady? Why weep ye by the tide? I'll wed ye to my youngest son And ye shall be his bride And ye shall be his bride, lady So comely to be seen" But aye, she let the tears down fall For Jock O'Hazeldean "Now let this willful grief be done And dry thy cheeks so pale Young Frank is chief of Errington And lord o' Langleydale His step is first in peaceful hall His sword in battle keen" But aye, she let the tears down fall For Jock O'Hazeldean "A chain of gold you shall not lack Nor braid to bind your hair Nor mettled hound, nor managed hawk Nor palfrey, fresh and fair And you, the foremost of them all Shall ride, our forest queen" But aye, she let the tears down fall For Jock O'Hazeldean The kirk was decked at morningtide The taper glimmered fair The priest and bridegroom 'wait the bride The dame and knight are there They sought her both by bower and ha' The lady was not seen She's o'er the border and away Wi' Jock O'Hazeldean

How lovely. Thank you for posting. I like Reign too and it’s nice to see a fan video made along to a song that these historical figures might have actually heard

A good rendering of this most powerful song. His 'Irish tone' as you call it takes away a little of the 'abrasion' (I don't quite know how to describe it, 'earthiness' maybe?) typical of a Border ballad, certainly interesting.

This is most beautifully sung and the story being told visually makes it understandable to anyone who might not be familiar with the story. Would it be possible to show this - with accreditation - at our International Welcome Club Burns Night on Friday 29 Jan 2021, please?

@@1234549084 You're doing a grand job. I liked the 'Jock' visuals - the expressions were perfect from the unwilling bride and settings were so good to give an impression of past times. You must put a lot of time into look for the best 'clip' to use.
