For all of us, regardless of age, it's important to keep our bodies strong with strength training and a proper diet. At 68. I do compound lifts, squats, bench press, dead lifts, pull ups, etc three days a week. I've eliminated alcohol, sugar and processed foods and I have never felt better.

Being a first responder I agree with her. Being around sick, dying, morbidly obese, smokers, child abuse, addicts, nursing homes, ect, can take its toll on you spiritually and emotionally. I thought fires, blood, and guts would be the hard part, but turns out, it’s just seeing profound sickness and negligence 24/7 that haunts me. The medical system has greatly failed people and people are continually failing themselves.

Incredible interview. I see patients daily and can echo exactly what Dr. Lyon sees - sedentarism, inadequate protein, atrophy - almost completely across the board in all age groups especially in the geriatric population. I always get the impression from these patients that the wasting and weakness is part of growing older. Not THAT much, folks! "The only hack is hard work." Love it!

Thanks for this podcast. There's broad agreement that protein and strength training are important, there's less consensus that protein is best sourced from animal products from confined animal feeding operations, as are the vast majority of animal products in the US. Grateful that you offer and recommend non-CAFO alternatives. Plant-based protein sources are options too. I am a marathon runner and have run for over 40 years. I'm also a Kettlebell enthusiast for the last several years. As I do both daily, I make sure I eat high-quality animal protein, fish, eggs, legumes, tofu, and milk for protein, and high-quality complex carbs from fruit, vegetables, and legumes. I do eat rice and pasta infrequently. Low-carb diets are not great if you are trying to run a race faster than your last one.

Great interview.. in a nutshell there are several facts :1) good nutrition works against over trillions of medical and associated corporate revenues 2) the government wants your hard earned saving very fast - so making people sick is a quick way to make revenue 3) corporations want us addicted to money. Thus we put our health on lower priority. 4) lawyers and medical community is trying to protect obesity by normalizing. Solution, for dietary advices, listen non American sources: less is more.. don’t be in debt and be a slaves to money . Eliminate negativity around us, especially people with horrible diets, and don’t have kids unless you can afford them.

Sometimes eat a Ribeye or Chuckeye steaks maybe salmon fillet. i do not mix it up really. Ate this way for over a year now. very good. also Ate this way while i worked out at Victory MMA until it burned down. So i think at least 1 person eats the same amount of nutrients every day day in day out at his gym. Discipline ftw

Its funny how people say they are big boned, its glandular, or its ancestry as to why they are eeeeee norm ous. Its usually they eat poorly and don't move much. Pretty simple to be honest. Then you have someone like me, who was on a forced diet from age 4 to 14 where its easier to say what I could eat than couldn't. Meat, broccoli, cauliflower. As it happens, my body decided to take all that protein and store it. Yeah the Atkins thing made me a bit more than pudgy, and I was incredibly weak. I started wrestling at 14, and I was allowed off that diet. I gained muscle fast, to the point I wrestled 167lbs when I was 17, and I was only 5'7" with less than 10% bf. I benched 265lbs a month after the season ended and I qualified for the Nebraska tournament in February 1987. By the time I enlisted in the USAF in 1988, I had to stand on my tiptoes just to get in, because I was already over my max weight and benching more than 330lbs.. and I could rep it. That was just from my jobs in agriculture and construction. I was never under my max, and I only had 15" arms when I got to Rhein Main in Feb 1989. 10 August 1990 the airlift began in earnest and I was working 7 nights a week, 12 to 14 hour shifts, eating MREs I took off planes, loading cargo planes going to and coming back from the desert. I gained muscle fast and was 230lbs with a washboard by the time I got on the plane back to my next base in CONUS. I gained 12 inches around my chest, and had 22" arms when I got to Charleston in 1991. I was always on the weight program, even when I had a six pack. To get an idea of my job, put two F150s bumper to bumper in a parking lot, and push them from end to end for 12 hours. Pick up 200lbs of stuff, and run up three stories, over and over for 12 hours. The USAF made me huge, then punished me for it on very performance report. When I got out in 2005 at 36 years old, I maxed PT for 18 year old men, 90 pushups and situps in 2 minutes. I did that with time to spare, I can still do 200 without much issue, and I am 54 now. However the 2004 deployment had me loading the planes alone, pushing all the pallets myself while the reservists drove the K-loaders and the loadmasters stood around and watched me work. 120F and pushing 2000lb to 10,000lb pallets. It wiped out both my knees, because I was taking 3600mg of ibuprofen three times a shift, just to be able to walk. No food available to us again, so it was on an empty stomach, which wiped out my upper GI. I will never run again, even if I lost a bunch of muscle, the knees are done. The more I do, the bigger I get, My chest is 62" around now, my waist is 40, and I have the 50 year old can't run anymore belly. I eat around 1100 to 1800 calories a day. Lean meat, salad, veggies, fresh fruit, minimal bread, almost no sugar, and its a struggle to keep the pudge off. I have to have some carbs or my brain fogs and I get even pudgier. Been doing this for a long time now, 40 years, and I know what effect different things have on me. Eating is a chore, its not enjoyable at all. I get hungry, I eat something. Just had a single chickenbreast with a salad kit, I eat that every night. I drink copious amounts of water, no tea, coffee, or flavorings. I like carbonated water when I can get it, its something different. I use this name because when I got back from Kuwait in December 2001, my unit put me on the weight program, and I was in similar condition to when I wrestled in the 80s. I was shredded, six pack, my arms and back looked like there was no bf on them at all. Dude said my 21" neck was only 16" which they did trying to keep me from promotion testing. I am not a body builder, I am built like a power lifter and its always a battle trying to get my VA dr's to stop assuming I eat fast food and sugary junk. I wish I could figure out how to get more cardio without being able to walk very far, and not build more muscle. I haven't been able to reach my back in 35 years. My blood work is great, I have my yearly check up in a week. The new Dr is trying to get me on those shots, and its the last thing I want to do, because if you stop your weight skyrockets, and they have even more side effects. I live with enough pain and messed up stuff as it is. I am currently 325lbs, 5'8" and even with the bad knees I can pick up 500lbs and carry it. It causes intense pain, but I can do it. You can see my ribs and my arms are defined almost as well as Jocko and EC... but I have the belly because I cannot run anymore. I stay active, as much as I can, live alone in the woods, heat with wood pellets, and I do most of the landscaping by hand around here. I build old cars to stay busy and feel productive. Even with the bad knees I can make teen to 30 year olds fall out trying to work with me. The diet is very specific, too much protein or too much carbs/sugar and I get pudgy fast. Not enough of one or the other, and the same thing happens. Intermittent fasting leaves me unable to stay awake, I am running on the bare minimum as it is. So if she thinks she can figure out this problem, she is more than welcome to try.

1:28:15: 16 oz. steak = 1 lb. steak protein & steak fat 16 oz. steak protein & steak fat x (1 g / 0.0353 oz.) = 453.25779 g steak protein & steak fat 453.25779 g steak protein & steak fat x ( 1 lb./453.592 g) = 0.99926319 lbs. steak protein & steak fat Therefore, 16 ounces of steak roughly equals 1 pound of steak. Thus, to attain a masculine body weight of 225 lbs., one will need to consume [(225 lbs.)/(0.99926319 lbs. steak)] = 225.165904 sixteen oz. steaks per day, if one’s sole source of protein is solely the red meat within sixteen ounce steaks. Thirdly, to attain 225 lbs. in body weight the amount of protein in the above quantity of 16 ounce steaks one would need to consume each day is: [(100)-(% steak fat)] = % of steak protein in 225.165904 16 oz. steaks {[(225.165904 steak protein & steak fat)(0.%steak fat)]} = steak protein so, if the percentage of fat is at 59% thus, (225.165904 steak protein & steak fat) - [(225.165904 steak protein & steak fat)(0.59 steak fat)] = 92.0270704 steak protein Is the above number grams of protein for this is the only way I can derive a 92 value for possibly grams of protein. And was “seven” a code name for someone to assist or are we to literally multiply by the number seven, and if so, why do we multiply by seven? Please clarify for it needs to be verified that “seven” is or is not www.secretservice.gov/investigation/mostwanted/kotov to ensure there’s not communist predation descending onto any individual, most especially onto our warriors and their families. As the above calculations demonstrate, all noncommunists should adhere to as closely to a carnivore diet, otherwise referred to as a traditionally indigenous diet, as one is daily humanly capable and reference Dr. Anthony Chaffee, Nutrition with Judy, Dr. Ken Berry, and all the like to fully live to at least 120 years of age in the greatest physiological condition. Dr. Chaffee’s KZbin Channel: youtube.com/@anthonychaffeemd?si=JcqmWg_K0XlFvg4T kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5PJZnePjr2NqcUsi=IfNoThBhGCTiEjXL kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5bGZoJ9fNudhsksi=Zs7lFEtLbCggk8O8 Nutrition with Judy’s KZbin Channel: youtube.com/@NutritionwithJudy?si=P762css2gRCUB5oJ Dr. Sean O’Mara’s KZbin Channel: youtube.com/@DrSeanOMara?si=9a_0cAkwMCPWhP_G kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2TMiJmFedWVp7Msi=Gm7cKkzFJbada-pL (And what Dr. O’Mara is recommending in this particular video of when eating fruits and sweets is to be had while you’re in transition to becoming as closely carnivore as you daily possibly can.) Dr. Ken Berry’s KZbin Channel: youtube.com/@KenDBerryMD?si=1NCgWebJQalKeXHj The transition process will entail an at least six week to two year process of permitting the microbes that feast on starches, sugars and processed foods to undergo ravenous hunger and absolute total cellular death, while yielding the remaining microbes that feast on a carnivore diet to fully thrive and generate complete metabolic order, even in reversing every differing metabolic disorder that plague all nations. While one is undergoing the transition process, one can consume dairy such as cheeses with their red meat, and honey and cream in a coffee or tea with their whey protein powder, to temper these dying microbes’ signals to our brain to feed them all the sugar, starches and processed foods that manipulative companies narcissistically have indoctrinated all to genuinely believe that a “healthy” individual should consume and purchase. Yet it must also be fully acknowledged that whey protein powder has been found to have high traces of heavy metals, especially when coming from China and that it is not necessary to consume supplements as long as one is fully feasting on red meat, fish, eggs and healthy fats found within tallow and dairy. And gradually over time, one will greater consume protein, such as grass-fed red meat, wild-caught smaller fish (do not consume sea life that has no face in they, just as plants, producing chemicals as their self-defense mechanisms that are toxic to all who consume them in they not being able to move and flee all predators) and free-range eggs to then gradually lessen their dairy and plant intake to instead solely be seared cooked red meat that’s been fully submerged in a bath of tallow within a crockpot to medium-rare consistency and then had grass-fed, salted butter added to each bite, in noting the necessity of ensuring all animals being consumed are treated with the most morally ethical attunement of free-range, wild-caught, and grass-fed environments, to minimize all toxins found within the animal fat for one of the purposes of fat production is to more securely store away incoming toxins until sufficient nutrients enter the body to be utilized in removing the stored away toxins. Breakfast will consist of lox, hard boiled eggs-both coated in the amount of butter our healthy-fat-deprived-brain demands-and red meat proportioned to, again, how much our nutrient-deprived-brain dictates, with each remaining meal consisting of red meat, fish, and hard boiled eggs coated in the amount of butter our healthy-fat-deprived-brain inclines us to again enact. Snacks can consist of lox with cream cheese, mozzarella cheese with a stack of pepperoni, and any combination of red meats. Yet one is only to consume diary when craving sugars in dairy consisting of healthy fats and sugars, which is why one will gradually over time lessen one’s dairy intake in the sugars within dairy too causing arthritis and inflammation, just as all sugars daily do. All noncommunists are also to ensure they’re fully breathing oxygen and not the carcinogenic natural gas that induces clogged nasal passages that results in mouth breathing and the production of diabetes and every other metabolic disorder to then lead one on a lifetime of communist products of pharmaceuticals that fully “nurse” all noncommunists to a communist-induced premature death. Our interior bodies will perpetually be a natural mini heater as long as our brain has a sufficient amount of protein, for once we begin to interiorly experience coldness, a refueling of protein is necessary once again, with each refueling being determined by hunger due to the differing amounts of mental and physical labor one is daily undergoing. And all unused chimneys should be fully sealed and boarded up in they being notorious for mold. For all mold-covered items and mold-infected walls must be immediately removed and discarded in mold causing every differing ailment imaginable simultaneously within all living organisms. All noncommunists need to greater shift all noncommunist culture to fully reject the communist party of China’s hijacking of the world’s entire medical field and their erroneous dictations of what “must” be indoctrinated onto all for all medical licensees to maintain their board certified medical licenses. All the world knows how predatorily manipulative communism’s unrestricted warfare is onto all of humanity, and no communist nor any communist propaganda is to come near our Dr. Lyon, Jocko, Echo, any of our noncommunist warriors and their families, any noncommunist individual, nor every entire nation of people currently being hijacked by communist governments who hold all people hostage within their nationwide communist concentration camps. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4uxqoOniryEiposi=G2oF6rGDPIN3V4qM

Was I right? I used to give my buddies a hard time for taking proteins from huge containers. I told them that 1. If the whole container was all proteins, then the bottle would coust thousands of dollars, therefore, huge bottles are mostly filler. 2. The more you fart, the more filler is in the bottle, so get higher quality protein and you' fart less. 3. There are thousands of proteins in the body and there was no guarantee that what's in the bottle isn't just making protein for the color of your eye, denaturing enzymes, or regulating the gut, and not making specifically skeletal muscle mass. The proteins in the bottle, not only could they not pronounce what was on the label, but they didn’t bother looking up what they do.

I guess it is raw weight because food loses an arbitrary amount of water while cooking, depending on the temperature and time spent.

The only thing about all this science, is that when I look at the blue zones, where people routinely live to 100 healthily and aren't obese, carbs, not only are carbs common, but eating such an extreme diet like a keto for an extended period, is unheard of. It will be interesting to see what those who are touting such an extreme way of eating will look like and feel in 30 or 40 years, if they're still alive.

I'm just curious, is dr. Gabrielle Lyon against other forms of protein? What's wrong with eating whole foods such as beans? I eat steak and fish, but why doesn't she encourage eating lentils and beans as well? And to call sprouting difficult is like saying taking a shower is difficult. I sprout lentils in a jar and it literally takes 5 seconds every day. Dr is right, we all gotta gain some kgs of muscle and keep active.
