Thank you from an Israeli, for spreading these facts. I think some of the reasons why Israel did not release the full footage of October 7: 1. Israelis, Jews, are traumatized. Collective memories of the Holocaust and Pogroms etc. make this hellish day even more hard to bear. 2. Israelis are very proud people, perhaps too much. It's very hard for us to show the world how hurt we are. We as people still haven't completely processed, we're quite far away from it in many ways, the acts of October 7.

Thanks to John for bringing practical on-the-ground fact-based perspective about Russia-Ukraine war as well as Israeli-Palestinian war. Specifically on Ukraine, and from somebody who grew up there. Looking at all the early atrocities that Russians committed in the beginning of the invasion when their casualties were not that high, and at how they execute captured Ukrainian soldiers on the frontlines and torture them in captivity, it is pretty evident for an average Ukrainian civilian what to expect if Russia takes over when their casualty level is now over 0.5 million and growing. They were dehumanizing Ukrainians in the beginning, and now they are even more furious. Expect a genocide of global proportions on the scale of millions, properties taken, men killed and tortured, women and children raped. So, from Ukrainian perspective the choice to continue resisting is pretty clear. And it bugs me how some people in the western audience continue to push this (Russian) narrative that Ukraine wants to continue war and Russia wants peace 🙄 It couldn’t be more otherwise. Russia, in a very revisionist way, wants to reassert its influence over the region at any cost. And it’s a tragedy that eventually the world will come to learn that, but it might be too late.

Wonderful guest. 1:31:00 interesting that even Jocko, not a spring chicken, is trying to rationalize why Hamas educate people as they do or what would cause 4,000 Gazans to go on a rape and murder spree. It's a case of thinking "what would make me do what these people do" - which often leads to false conclusion. Can you imagine what would make you kill your own son or daughter or other close kin? Would you do so if they dishonored your family? Now, can you really say you understand what people who answer yes to both these questions actually think? Yes, Palestinians have valid grievances against Israel, but if you actually listen to what they are saying (instead of projecting) it's not about grievances or living standards, it's not even religious per se though it certainly plays a part, it's really about (male) honor.

John Spencer, the US has won so many wars: Iraq, WWII, Afghanistan but we somehow lose the peace, other than WWII. Thomas PM Barnett in his "Pentagon's New Map" describes our need for A Department of War, and a Department of everything else where after we win the war we must then win the peace with a different type of organization. In the case of Gaza, Israel should outsource this process to partners with both the power and the expertise to usher in a new government. There a quite a few Palestinians who advocate for peace but lack the infrastructure to build the framework.

On the Tools channel is demonstrative about dumb behavior, or idle nonsense which becomes dangerous which younger trades people engage in, when they work on construction projects. What it demonstrates is human complacency and laziness. On the episode 'when it all comes crashing down', a dwelling house gable fell onto a street legitimately, the footage was on a security camera. The point that this episode makes, is about human beings and urban environments. This young man is walking to his college with a school bag on his shoulder, clearly worried about his economics, or maths exam he has to sit this day when there is a storm. The gable wall practically falls on his head, and he kind of doesn't even bother to stop. Just goes about his day. This is the strangeness about urban environments, and I've seen it on numerous times. It's not like in Hollywood, where there are actors who are able to 'milk the moment'. Reality is a lot more strange, in how little impact it seems to have on.populations when you would think or believe it would be otherwise.

I appreciated the conversation on Ukraine; it was insightful and engaging. In contrast, the situation in Palestine is deeply disappointing. The complexities surrounding Hamas are undeniable-they’re a persistent issue that complicates peace efforts and impacts civilians severely. However, the actions of the IDF raise serious concerns. Their approach often appears to disregard human life, as evidenced by numerous accusations and documented cases of alleged human rights violations against them. Legal cases have been brought against the IDF in various international courts, highlighting troubling patterns in their operational conduct. The incident involving the USS Liberty back in 1967 is a stark reminder of the unresolved questions surrounding Israeli military actions, even when allies are affected. Despite a tragic outcome, with 34 Americans killed and over 170 wounded, accountability remains elusive. Yet, the unwavering support for Israel from certain factions within the U.S., such as AIPAC, adds a layer of complexity to this issue. AIPAC’s influence over U.S. policy often shields Israel from accountability, regardless of its actions. This support system continues to bolster Israel on the international stage, complicating efforts for a balanced and fair response to the conflict.
@guythetechguy11 күн бұрын
It's funny how you guys keep repeating your talking points and ignoring reality. The IDF operates in Gaza with higher standards than any other western military, not to mention non-western militaries. It is unheard of that at time of war one side provides humanitarian aid to the other. Unheard of. Supporting Israel is the only clear moral choice to anyone who can see reality as it is. Any war has ugly sides and certain actions that look like that. That's the nature of war. For the pro-Palestinians, if you want to minimize the price of the war you should pressure the Palestinians to surrender.
@ranharel703311 күн бұрын
So you basically ignored everything John Spencer said from firsthand knowledge about how the IDF is operating. Or maybe you don't realize that in every war you have 18 and 20 year olds who are going to do bad shit. Israel is not unique in that, yet it is unique that the world then goes on to blame it for war crimes continuously. The fact that you bring up a tragic incident from almost 50 years ago when Israel and the US weren't even allies and the entire establishment was different shows more about you and where you're coming from then about any logical point you're trying to make
@PDM196711 күн бұрын
Ah, the USS Liberty lie - a favorite of Jew haters and conspiracy theorists - is back! It was investigated 50 YEARS ago and was found to be an unfortunate accident. And what’s the point of raising it other than to imply that Israeli’s (ie Jews) are duplicitous evil fks. But that is what you are saying right?
@JakubUrbanowicz-bc1td11 күн бұрын
The high standards? IDF proved when they shot on the spot, their own countrymen-hostages, who were unarmed and barely naked. Or when they set a "safe route" for humanitarian convoy of World Kitchen, when Israeli drones three times(!) attacked and killed everybody(this become big tipic because foreign aid workers were killed. What about videos of IDF soldiers posted by themself, destroying civilian buildings, etc. There is ton of it, and you can find it in the Israeli media. As for Siege tactics of cutting water and food from civilians as war crime, wasn't that Israeli Defense minister Gallant admitted himself, that this is exactly what are they going to do? How many hostages were actually rescued by IDF? 1-2? Anybody who reads only Israeli press alone have bigger picture then this guy. There are already plans to bring Israeli settlers, in Gaza, it is plainly stated by Far Right Israeli circles. Ganz was dissmissed because he wanted independent resarch on what and how hapoend on October 7th. This operation has no endgame, no end scenario, except to make Gaza strip unable to live, and force the locals to flee. This guy is talking nonsense, just read Israeli media, there are english editions, make an effort and confront various sources.

I will never endorse violence, and I absolutely condemn what Hamas has done. That said, it's supremely dishonest to gloss over the atrocities committed by Israel, from the original Nakba to the shooting of non-violent protestors during the march of return, or the illegal invasion into the West Bank who had nothing to do with Hamas nor the atrocities of Oct 7. There are whistle blowers with video evidence of Israeli run concentration camps where they are sexually assaulting and torturing prisoners. The Lancet estimates nearly 200,000 have been slaughtered in Gaza, including innocent men, women, and children. Collective punishment and starvation are war crimes. Blowing up schools, hospitals, and refugee camps are war crimes. The heinous acts committed by Hamas does not grant Israel the right to commit genocide.
@whitefish216012 күн бұрын
There is nothing close to a genocide. You obviously don't know what the nakba was and its events over the course of more than a year and its three parts. Two of those being directed by the invading arabs and the third as a result of the invading arabs actions. The arabs that currently live in Israel are the smart ones who didnt listen to the invading arabs to flee their homes. Taking defensive measures is not the same as an unjustified offensive measure. Genocide is only falsely screamed when its Israel defending itself. Where are all the cries genocide for what Jordan did to 30k arabs trying to take down Jordan, where are the cries of genocide for what Assad did in Syria. What about Egypt's actions and building a double wall on the boarder to keep out MB which almost destabilized and destroyed a fragile Egypt. If you want to know what really happened read Son of Hamas. That is someone with real on the ground knowledge and nothing is sugar coated on either side of the conflict.

No. What's dishonest is to say you condemn the Hamas but at the same breath attack Israel for defending itself. Israel's enemies will not accept its existence within any borders, they keep fighting it, and keep losing, and keep crying about losing. The Nakba was self inflicted just like the current outcome in Gaza is self inflicted by Palestinians who have no other goal than the destruction of Israel and the murder of all Jews in the region.

Let me paraphrase: " I will never condone violence but Israel is the evil one and at fault". I'm just curious about 2 things, the "West Bank" is West of where? And what is the Nakba? Or what year is the Nakba?
@sophiejensen57211 күн бұрын
John Spencer is clearly clueless. He for example mentions the LIONS DEN in gaza... BUT there is no Lions Den in Gaza. Its a west bank based militia.

So Israel left in 2005? BUT is a legal occupation ... right - this is embarrassingly inaccurate on so many fronts
@Atowns10 күн бұрын
In 2005, Israel withdrew from Gaza as a peace gesture. Soon after, Hamas-a jihadist group-took control, leading Israel to impose a blockade to prevent weapon smuggling and protect its security. Similar actions are seen globally: Egypt maintains a blockade on Gaza, India enforces strict controls in Kashmir, and the U.S. used a naval blockade during the Cuban Missile Crisis to counter threats. Containment is essential when dealing with groups that pose direct security risks. Grow up clown. Názìs don’t get their own state, isis and Hamas are no different

@@Kissed1982 Ah, yes-the tired refrain that Islamist extremism is a byproduct of foreign interference, as though tens of millions of muslims can act with such fierce conviction yet bear no responsibility. Al-Shebaab, ISIS, Hezbollah, Hamas, and others-did not emerge from some secret Western laboratory but from a nexus of ideology and a shared willingness to embrace theocratic violence. To suggest that Muslim societies lack agency in the creation of groups like these is not only disingenuous but denies a real, self-determined history. These movements aren't accidental misfortunes but represent a honest belief in a single book, wielded as a tool of dominion, control and colonisation - that continues to this day

@@Kissed1982 it starts and ends with muslims, who subscribe to islam, that is why there are hundreds of other jihadist groups too. Where are the Cherokee suicide bombers? first priority as President Trump have said multiple times is to stop people from dying than do whatever needed to make sure it never happens again, not push Russia further in China hands and work on making world more peaceful and prosperous, prevent ww3 as far as territory and nato, doubt whether Russians would be comfortable with that taking out from them, but Ukraine could join eu to make it easier sell for ukrainian people, but both sides should be willing to talk, negotiate and willing to compromise so news could say that Ukraine defended itself and this was a win so they could sell it to the public smhw

You cant see all of the Hamas footage for the same reason you cant read all of the JFK documents. Jocko just took 2 1/2 hours of Israel Propaganda to the dome and didnt once wonder why Hamas doesnt release the footage but Israel releases an edited version. Well armed sheep are still sheep....Jocko should have invited Martyr Made on for this episode.

Hamas did release it all. Israel just compiled what they released and what they found. But sure, go side with those who chant in the streets about the destruction of America

I don't want to be that but guy because I don't know anything about war etc. But... I keep struggling with the fact that Mossad can fit these terrorist with hundreds of explosive walkie talkies and there were not a sign of this hummungus attack from Hahahamas. That does not fit in my head.
@omidnamadi92628 күн бұрын
Who were the walkitalkies and pagers for? Hezbollah, which is in north , hamas is in the south , israel correctly viewed hezbollah as the biggest threat since it had 150,000 missiles and rockets pointed at israel to it took most of the intel and military power to focus on the threat in the north, hamas however played this really smart , didn’t share the plan with anyone except a handful in the top of hamas and tried to show they want peace in multiple interviews and also didn’t fire rockets in israel for months to make israel feel safe , not to mention israel and it’s military was having alot of internal political struggles also the attack happened during yom kippor and jewish newyear , you can investigate this but don’t try to make everything a grand jewish conspiracy, it’s sick people died in the most horrific way and hamas were the ones doing it and filming it.

Because it's propaganda. This episode made me cringe. The discussion at 1:20:00 is insane as if this all happened in a vacuum and israelis have never been brutal to those living in Gaza and WB (and southern Lebanon)...The dissonance is insane.
