@@npalmi88 Yes'sir. Just another day! Limitations are often frustrating, but they can also push you to think outside of the box and find new solutions to age-old problems... Just gotta step back (proverbially speaking, in my case 🤣), take a few deep breaths, and tackle the issues without the anger. No doubt there's never been a better time to face such physical challenges! Things have noticably improved even in the 30 years or so that I've been in a wheelchair.

So in summary, frustration is a distraction from solving the problem.
@julianb1550
@julianb1550 2 жыл бұрын
Frustration is anxiety. Being anxious is like juggling, you have to intentionally give energy to and focus on the feelings and thoughts and it takes a lot of attention to do that. If you can step into the moment and realize you're juggling, drop it and let it go. All those feelings and thoughts fall to the floor just like the juggling balls would and you can continue your day without the juggling. Imagine how much more effective you would be if you didn't need to constantly be juggling? That's why we tell people to Drop it, Let it go, Knock it off. The IT being the "stuff" we're attaching to and giving our energy to and what's behind our suffering. Who knew Jocko would be such a Buddhist?
@rmmm6725
@rmmm6725 2 жыл бұрын
Frustration is not anxiety. Now a days people love to say they have anxiety like it’s a necessary step to be in the cool club. Not having the resiliency to deal with life isn’t anxiety. As a combat vet I know exactly what anxiety is, many people experience it but I hear people way to often live anxiety like it’s a badge of courage. What you described is having resiliency to stop allowing outside factors invade your mind and cause you to lose focus. Have a good day

I feel like I can definitely relate to this. I'll just parrot exactly what Jocko said and say, "Get to work." I've found that if I just start doing SOMETHING, very often to hierarchy of priorities becomes self-apparent, or happens naturally. Often in the form of starting a task, and realizing "Oh, well, I can't finish this task until I do *that* task", or something along those lines. Just "get to work". Start doing something. It's easy to fall into a "paralysis by analysis" situation. ✊🏻🙏🏻✊🏻

Last night I wanted to finish my pages and get to sleep as I was meant to be asleep 1.5 hours prior, but she kept speaking to me and I had to put the book down for 20mins but couldn't complain because normally I'm moaning that she's quite and reads at night 🤦‍♂️😂 all appreciated and a part of the path

Sounds similar many of my work days, or nights. I'm an ex boat guy (SBU-22)/Army Nurse Corps 1LT(Ret) with a combined service time of 25 years. Presently an RN working 12 hour nights Fri-Sat-Sun. I work from my own SOP's. There is regularly frustration that arises in this job; there's almost always something that attempts to pull me off track. The challenge is to take the frustration & anger when it arises and channel it into getting things done... as paraphrased from the podcast, using default aggression to make things happen in order to complete the mission.

Jocko, first, You are the man and thank you for sharing such amazing knowledge with us. However, with this one, I feel you missed something. What an amazing opportunity you had to workout with your Son and His Friends! For me, a forever whitebelt who studies Martial Arts, it would have been so mutually beneficial. Your son is probably waiting for the day that you say, "sure kiddo, let's do this workout Your Way today." To get that from Jocko, as his Dad, would be like watching Sylvester Stallone in Over the Top all over again. You really have all the time in the world for work, but the time spent with your kiddos is absolutely Priceless. You are an inspiration to me daily and a forever frustrating super annoyingly motivating "GOOD" in the back of my mind when I have to push thru sometimes.
