I don't think neither of them find the way the proposal happened to be embarassing, he didn't seem embarrassed for being a man that accepted a woman's proposal. I think your interpretation of what happened is because you would be embarrassed, but this couple is not you so please keep that in mind. Does him protecting her mean that he needs to protect her from people who interpret her proposal the way you did? Is that what you're asking him to protect her from? They both seem okay with the way it happened. They're not hiding it cause there's nothing to hide. Now, personally, I couldn't do but that's just a personality thing. But there are some people that are just go- getters, they know what they want and won't sit around in-wait hoping and praying that the thing they want will happen. They make things happen and she seems to be that type. Let them be. If he resents it, he should not have married her or maybe he's not the type of guy that can be with a woman like her. When I was pregnant at 25 with our 1st everyone was asking me why I wasn’t pressuring my then boyfriend to marry me before the baby was born. Married women on the other hand are seen as a liability, because she could possibly end up pregnant. That would possibly require time off for maternity leave. Which means the company could become short staff on the one person who was possibly growing the company. Imagine being the CEO of a company that has a brilliant employee who helped the company to make millions. Now that same person isn't available because they're on maternity leave. Paternity leaves are extremely short, and some companies don't even offer paternity leave. Also, married men usually live longer on average than single men. Married men are more likely to sit down to a nutritious meal than a single man would. Married men are more likely to have a partner who will work out with him, and keep him accountable. He's more like to be chasing and wresting after kids, which is a workout in itself. His wife and children are more likely to push him or influence him to get yearly checkups. The wife is more likely the one to do the heavy lifting when it comes to taking care of the children....meaning taking the time to cook,feed, change diapers, bathe children, do hair, read books at bedtime, help with homework etc. Leaving him more leisure time to take care of his well being. That's why it benefits men more than women. Oh I forgot, single father aren't seen in a negative light as much as single mothers. So even if a divorce takes place, he has a higher chance of a childless woman wanting him, than a single mother has of a child free man wanting her.
