The dust bunny at the end says it all. I had to stop being the Man in my relationships. I had a wonderful but masculine Mother who subscribed to the Strong Black Woman narrative. Don't get me wrong. I love my father but I can't fully respect him. He had a job, but it paid very little and he did not try to level up therefore my mother had to toil and mule to make ends meet. Now she looks very haggard and way older than she should. So my siblings and I suffered because my father got too comfortable. Growing up I was angry and resentful, and I didn't like how he disrespected my mother. I remember him getting angry when he learned about my mother's ex whom she met before him. He also would teach me that once a girl is not a virgin anymore, she is "damaged goods". I cannot find to respect a man like that.

The men in my family are horribly wounded. It’s really weird how they try to control me and ‘put me in my place’ which in their minds is broke and depressed. They had no problems with me in dark times but now that I proven to be the capable, smart, high earner that I am my the males in my family have lost their collective minds. I’ve cut them all off. I refuse to be depressed so they can feel good about their failures. I don’t put them down. I just bounced and don’t give access to me. Because of this experience with men once close to me, I question every man (and woman).

In our community we raise girls to be prepared for their family by cooking, babysitting, cleaning the restrooms and dishes very early. Men were groomed to do 1 thing which was take the trash out or cut the lawn here and there. Alot of mothers say they are hard on us just in case we are in a situation where we are the head of the house(which happens too often). Instead of fixing the dynamic they trained us how to survive it bc deep down they expect their sons to be absent or weak as well. Lots of men get married or get in situation ,then bounce bc there is now an obligation and responsibility, which was never established young causing cowardish and weak men.

I find your view very interesting. I got into a disagreement with another mother about whether boys should play with kitchen sets or dolls, and do house chores like ironing, dishes and laundry. She felt it wasn’t “masculine” for boys to do that; she has a son. I’m a mother of 4 boys and 1 girl. I teach everyone the same, just the pronouns change lol. I remember my son and daughter used to love playing with their kitchen sets and now they both can cook at 11 and 9! My boys have never had dolls as in “feminine” dolls but for ie. my 5 year old son cuddles his Buzz Lightner, I’m encouraging him. “Oh you’re such a good Dad” or “you’re gonna be a beautiful father one day”. I don’t see why My 9 year old son can’t wash laundry and fold them up! I tell my 14 year old son to value himself when grownup and make sure he knows how to take care of himself whether he’s got a woman or NOT and to make sure there’s always balance. He also babysits to make a few extra dollars, he loves children. I know plenty single fathers (my dad was one for a lil) who have had to learn as they go but I wish that mother’s noticed that if we equipped the males with the same knowledge and skill we do the females there would be more masculine and independent men. Mentally we have to build them up from young.

Yes I had deep wounded masculine men in my family. All my uncles were wounded and never married anyone and had kids. My grandfather never worked, my grandmother was the breadwinner and worked to her grave (she died of cancer) this created a generation of wounded females who were groomed to be independent and pick me’s for men and so the disfunction continued. Ever since I’ve started listening to this channel, I have learnt what hypergamy is, i take care of my looks and my body, im journaling and also going for therapy. I let go of another toxic relationship that was shaping me to become a 50/50 woman to help a man pay bills….and he would constantly say that he wanted a woman that would resemble his hard working mom! (The mom was single and raising three boys on her own. She’s still working to this day in her late 60’s) I just know in my heart of hearts that my purpose is to break generational curses and pave a new way of being for the next generation. Chloe you’ve been an invaluable inspiration, you’ll never know how many woman have been saved through your voice Thank you ❤️

I'm so glad I found this page. Everything that is being said here is what a lot of weak masculine men don't understand. A lot of men think that all they have to do is treat a woman nicely, and it should be enough to sustain the relationship meanwhile preaching about what "type of man" they are but cannot confirm that with actions. The first time you see that a man cannot cover the rest of his rent after seeming to have it all together before you met him, run. He's not financially stable. Especially a man that isn't responsible for anyone but himself. If he has children, that's even worse. If he cannot hold his own weight, he will not be able to hold a family, if that's what you desire. Another HUGE red flag, is a man that will stand there and let you reach in your wallet, after agreeing to go on an outing with you KNOWING that he was broke, but somehow expecting that you've got it covered because you're more financially stable than him. That is a WEAK man who rest assured, will become comfortable the more you go out of your way. Run and screw how they feel.

Wow! Chloe you get 5 stars for this topic. I have dated weak men that I didn't respect and I tried to model strength, good work ethics, and being a responsible person. I can tell you first hand that this behavior will never inspire a man to be masculine. The only thing that you will get out of this is frustration, disappointment, and an empty pocket. So, I learned it is not my job to take care of weak and unstable men. I don't give any man wife-like privileges without him qualifying to be a husband. He must be able to protect, provide, and proven to be faithful.

My ex’s dad is a narcissistic provider. His mother never worked a day in her life but fled when my ex was in high school to get away from his abuse and all his random kids he conceived during their marriage all over town. His mom leaving damaged him so much that he is a full on dusty who lives off of women even though his dad was a provider. He hates women but always has to have many at a time. He has said numerous times how he felt abandoned when his mother left, completely blaming her instead of holding his horrifically abusive father just as accountable for the reason she left. He is just like his father without the provider part. I think my most recent ex-boyfriend was a wounded masculine. Hed explicitly express how I never invested financially into the relationship. Ive never paid for a date or gifted him on his birthdays because I felt he always fell short. He complained about how I don't deserve good stuff from him and how I had to "prove" myself to be worth it. He literally once told him straight up that he could give me the world but he didnt think I deserved it. I think his talk stemed from being raised by a divorced single mother who provided for herself and him for most of his life. Most of these men do not know how to be masculine because it was never modelled to them.

Thank you for this video. The message is right on time, based on the social media arguments that continue. You are so right about these things plaguing the black community. I had to do a lot of self-work to stop seeking to fix and rescue guys. It's something that stems from childhood trauma. Therapy is a gift that keeps on giving, if we're willing to do the work honestly.

This video has a lot of truth to it. I have a step father that has been there since I was 2 yrs old. A brother and sister (half) came after and my biological father had 7 kids (half brothers/sisters) with his first woman. I see them all as brothers and sisters. But growing up with my step father, he was never a father figure or family man. Always cares about a himself first and never care of giving guidance since he doesn’t have it. He’s would take us to his family and a lot of times leaving my mother out. He’s a cheater as well and never invited the family to come to our home but we would only go and visit on holidays and some weekends but just felt like just dropping off in a school playground and that’s about it. That made my life hard to try to be a masculine man but I always tried. Was married on a relationship that lasted 10 yrs and currently I have an 8 yr child with my X. I’m 33 now and 4 yrs single since that last relationship with my x wife. Mid 2017 my x left me. I did had issues with alcohol and in 2 months I told my X to come back and she did. I didn’t want our child to live the same life growing up how I did. 6 months later in Jan 2018 my x left again. I said fuark it. I told my mother that I came to realize if I kept insisting for my x to come back, I would be teaching my child a fake unhappy relationship of how it should supposedly be. I don’t feel bad and with no guidance from my step dad i managed to get a mortgage with my x, get her a 2 yr old car and did repairs at home and I always tried to pls my x and I changed a lot from how my x met me at 18. I was a punk rocker that played in a band and drank. She knew I was like that and she knew me before I knew her because I was going out with one of her friends when I was 16 and my x had a crush on me I didn’t know. Anyways my x added me on MySpace then it went to myface lol but I feel glad with what I accomplished. I left my band, my punk friends, my dog, my bronco, became a manager in Tito’s tacos in Culver City in my early 20s, became a lead security and a maintenance supervisor while I was with my x. Sold the house a few months after she left the 2nd time without her giving me a dime while the mortgage was still do and she had a nice even split of the money. She would say when we had 5 yrs together that she made me a better person. I’m like yeah right…… I always like to improve as well. My family is dysfunctional but I love them and still help them out when I can. We don’t eat together really and we all just kind of do our things. When I had a place with my x I would invite my family, my x’s family and I would grill, set up ppv fights and tried to have those reunions I saw when we visited family. To summon it, it makes it hard to be in a relationship since most girls I met are very family oriented and it takes me a while to open up. That’s why I’m looking for a friend first to build a foundation and not just hook up. In the meantime, I’m trying to regain what I lost. Good luck all.
