This is misleading. She's just doing Big Finish. A lot of Doctors have done that, and no one says they've "returned" Also you calling Series 11 a soft reboot isn't even close to accurate. Tardis interiors, exteriors, and companions have been changing for decades. What? I don't have the slightest idea by what you mean by 13 being similar to 10. I've watched her run like three times and never picked that up.

@@philosotree5876 she is returning.. I also state within the video that this is to big finish.. Big finish is part of the DWEU.. So she is still returning to Doctor Who. No intention to indirectly mislead anyone. I also said within this video it was supposed to be a "soft reboot" of the show but in actual fact this reboot was "harsh and hard reboot" which is what Series 11 turned out to be. Just because you do not see that 13 was written and acted really close to the 10th incarnation does not mean it is not a wider opinion of whovians. Thirteens Catchphrase was "Brilliant" or "Oh Brilliant" for a lot of the series so was Ten's. Series 12 also ended with the "what? What?? WHAT??? When she talks to Captain Jack she said "Have you had work done?" Jack Replies "You can Talk!" Ten also said the same thing "And you... Same as ever, Although have you had work done?" and Jack Replies "You can Talk!" There is loads more similarities that you may notice upon a rewatch.

@@TardisTalks Your thumbnail and title made no mention of Big Finish. I see no sign that it was intended to be a soft reboot, and the claim that it was a hard reboot stands on even wobblier legs. But by far the most baffling take you made is that she was too similar to 10 based on... Your obliviousness to the well known fact that 10's catchphrase was "Allons-y" and the fact that in one scene, in one episode, the made a reference to something that happened to a previous Doctor... right after saying the Chibnall era never harkened back to New Who.

​@@philosotree5876 I made 3 thumbnails for this video, one with "she is returning" one with "she is returning with a doctor who logo" and a third "she is returning with a big finish & doctor who logo" KZbin ran the "test and compare feature" and picked the most suitable based on watch time.. Regardless of the fact on whether it was a Soft Reboot or not it was indeed rebooted.. The show was completely changed since the last series (10). Yes Allons-y was eventually 10s catchphrase.. He first used the phrase in Army of Ghosts and went on to use it since then so for the full of series 2 until that point his catchphrase was originally "Brilliant" (he does continue to use this through his run) yes so Allons-y may be the one that is recognised as his main catchphrase.. Brilliant is also used just as much. I don't think this was a call back to the tenth doctor in any way.. I personally think this is a way of chibnall trying to make 13 feel familiar to fans and it worked poorly. I do not hate series 11 to 13 although it does have one of the least rewatchability in my opinion also to add I do not hate or dislike the 13th doctor.. I enjoyed watching her.. I just wish it was a better written run with Jodie having more freedom over how her doctor should have been because I personally think it is very clear that she was not given complete freedom and flexibility like the other actors had with their own incarnations. I have also added in the Big Finish to the title so others do not find this misleading and I can only apologise you felt this way as this was not my intention.

@@TardisTalks Again, it was not rebooted. You state that to make it seem so obvious. You've yet to give me a convincing argument. And you've misrepresented my argument. I never said the use of the word "brilliant" was the callback. The scene with Jack was the callback. If you think that one scene was trying to make her like 10 and it was anything other than a reference... I honestly don't know what to tell you. And by the way, both of those factors aren't nearly enough to claim her entire character was an imitation of 10.

I actually liked her if not for chibnalls dumb Mary-suesque writing she would have been my favorite doctor to see she's not only not adverse to returning as the 13th but actually returning soon along with her go to companion is such a happy thing for me.

I love Jody as an actor AND as the Doctor. I think she did a marvelous job. Her energy was excellent. I just didn't get into the stories that she was given, but I think she did an excellent job. So happy to see someone else say the same thing.

Actors don't do Big Finish unless they are in the twilight of their careers. Chibnail may not have succeeded in killing Dr. Who but he may have done so with Whittaker's career as an actor.

How can you say there's no familiar anything with the new Davies era? For all of it's problems that's not been one of them. How is bringing Kate back not familiar enough? Not to mention Tennant coming back as another incarnation with Donna Noble and her family. A returning composer, writers and producers from the shows past. Mel and Sutekh might not be familiar to everyone but again they are familiar to older fans. Apart from production staff the only thing that was familiar with audiences during the Pertwee era as an example was the character of the Brigadier.

Jodie was a Good Doctor with a terrible writing staff. Ncuti on the other hand is an AMAZING Doctor with a good writing staff. I hope Jodie gets the chance to shine in BF and future multi doctor stories.

My wish list would be: 1) More Pting, lots of them. 2) A sequel to "Kleblam!" In which years later everything got worse thanks to the Doc for defending the system. 3) Yaz being a real cop, and criticizing the Doctor's hypocritical morality. 4) A final showdown with Jack Robertson, probably using another alien race for profit, like the Krynoids or Axons. 5) No Chibnall style of writing.

Big Finish however isn'treallly regarded as "real Who". It has a very small fraction of the audience of the TV show itself which seems determined to bury Whittaker's existence.

I agree with you, I think Jodi and Mandip are great actors. I honestly think Capaldi was the wrong step, and I’m Scottish, but he didn’t click and even brought Jenna down. Flux was an embarrassment, I can see what Chris was trying to do, but it didn’t work. The new series was better, but there were times it felt like they were ‘after school specials’ as in RTD had a moral or political message to convey, which I know isn’t a new concept for Dr Who, but some were really heavy handed and that along with the usual introduction of all the new characters and storylines seemed to make for eps that were a little bit, well obvious

Clara with the 12 Dr was so f*cking annoying. Constantly contradicting herself in each episode. In the ‘K*ll the moon’ episode, she wanted the Dr to save them. Then, in the episode ‘Forest of the Night’, the Dr actually quotes her words back at her ‘I breathe your air. Your world is my world’. Then she says ‘No sorry, you shouldn’t save us’ completely contradictory to the previous episode. Then her stupid decisions got her k*lled in ‘Face the Raven’ by not listening to what was said: ‘You can pass it on, but you can’t cheat it’.

jo martin was a much much better doctor. also better than gatwa you sound like an apologist....just making excuses it was identity politics. it was blatant messages in thin weak stories and bad acting it started earlier than jodie though. capaldi was done a disservice and "sexual relationships" of whatever nature have been prevalent right from the start of "NEW WHO" and became the driver of many stories was never truly there in the original series.

I can agree, chibnall did get Jo Martins doctor so so right, I have said this in a previous video.. Although I am not apologising for anything.. The shows run literally had nothing to do with me so I have nothing to apologise for.. I am making no excuses it genuinely was the showrunners responsibility to ensure the show was run right and that did not happen.. And to blame it on the acting is wrong.. Capaldi's acting was beyond fantastic, again it was the writing and the way the show was run that let him down, I have never been a massive fan on the "relationship" part because the doctor to me is an alien who is kinda above that normal human emotion but I also do get why sometimes it's needed otherwise you have a 2 Dimensional character.. That gets boring. It was there in the original series.. It was just different types of relationships.. Similar to Capaldis doctor and Bill.. They were strickly just friends.. So was Donna and 10 and Ruby and 15, so was 12 and Clara.. Amy and 11 also (minus Amy's 1 time kissing 11). The only relationships you are really referring to is Rose and 9/10, Martha with 10, Yaz with 13 and Clara kinda with 11, River does not count as she is a reoccurring role not a companion. So there has been so many less love relationships and so many more friendships in the new show that a lot of people seem to remember..

@@TardisTalks nice response. thank you for that. but when i talk of politics and relationships. i did not mean rose and boyfriends alone. i mean the lgbt etc and all the sexual quirks. that is all specific to new who. from capt jack, bill and the woke agenda and wedging in messages that came in thick n fast with chibs and whitaker. as for gatwa and junks etc.......the show deserves another 10 yr + hiatus. to refresh i do think that capaldi could easily have been on par with tom baker for length of tenure. but was ousted and dealt with so badly, in so many ways

@@frankd5426 there are some things I can agree with as there is ways of putting those things in the show and have it advance or help the story in some way and I can't say that it's not sometimes just there front and center.. For no reason.. But personally I just look past this but that's a personal preference, I don't even acknowledge it in any my reviews as they are all most always just about the show, character, story or the episode only. I can't say I agree or disagree with this though but I do see the point your making 😊.
