Jody Wilson-Raybould's FULL statement to Commons justice committee

Eleven people were part of what former attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould is describing as a “sustained effort” to pressure her into intervening in the case of SNC-Lavalin - and the prime minister himself told her they needed to “find a solution.”
In her first public comments describing her side of the case, Wilson-Raybould offered explosive new details about what she called “veiled threats” made against her as part of a campaign to reverse the decision by public prosecutors to pursue criminal prosecution of the Montreal engineering giant.

The Commissioner of the RCMP must be separated from the Ministry of Justice. Most Canadians do not know this but the Commissioner is a deputy minister to the Minister of Justice. As Jody Wilson-Raybould has laid bare for all to see, there is no independence from the Prime Minister and the PMO's office for any Minister or Ministry. Thus the RCMP must be made an independent law enforcement agency again.

As a liberal, it saddens me to see yet again what I hoped would change with Harper's departure - an attitude by the Canadian government that the rule of law is something to subvert and an obstacle to political goals. Although I do not agree with Scheer on key policy, especially environmental policy, I can no longer vote for Justin Trudeau in good faith. Jody Wilson-Raybould seems to be the only true liberal in his cabinet and I have tremendous respect for her speaking out against her own party. All very interesting but the real story has yet to unfold. I bet SNC-Lavilin would be found not guilty in a trial. It's the trial itself that is being suppressed. That can of worms is something no one wants to be opened. Good on you Ms. Wilson-Raybould.

Trudeau and cronies want to open this closed case to cover crooked dealings that everyone knows about and don't - yet. Jody, obviously, had no choice but to resign. Canadians are sick and tired of Trudeau's preposterous propositions and scams. How would anyone feel about being harassed about nothing for six months straight? Jody's human rights should be the real issue about the Lavalin case.

Jody Wilson-Raybould backstabbed her party as revenge for being demoted. This is not solely about truth-telling. If it was, then she should have spoken up while she was justice minister and attorney general, not after she got demoted. There is no wrong-doing as far as I could tell. She was told clearly that the decision was up to her. Sure, there was pressure, and she was demoted, but that's all part of the legitimate goings-on in politics, not wrong-doing.
