I love it when a professional pushes the boat out with their celebrity and fuses two things that just should NOT go together in theory but it works fantastically. To take Money Money from Cabaret and put it to a Samba, while remaining perfectly in character is a bizarre triumph. Joe has become my favourite during this season and I love that he is giving the professionally trained celebrities, who are usually at the top, a superb fight for the title. Keep going Joe!

For me this is the best dance of the season! I was not expecting it to work at all and at first I was questioning it but I thought it was great and deserved at least another ten. It was odd, samba to this music, but the character makes it work. This is the only dance this season that I’ve loved and wanted to watch again and again, thank you Joe & Katya for livening up this dud of a season.

It's official! I LOVE Katya! How clever is that?! Samba with Money Money Money?! I was expecting Joe to suffer because of the musical shoe-horn disaster, but it WORKS!!! How is that possible?! But best of all, all the recognisable Samba steps were there, and Joe did them really well too! Joe has come a long way from that awkward cha-cha, to THIS! He looked campy and musculine at the same time. And that's a lot to do with the fact that he created the Samba figures and action well. 9!!!

SCD Observer Katya's one of the best and smartest choreographers in Strictly. The song and theme helped her to minimize the samba steps that Joe had to perform so that she could clean well the ones that he did. And this has been the hottest that Joe has looked (nice arms and guyliner helped).

I was thinking the same exact thing when I was watching this! Talk about turning lemons into lemonade. I could only imagine being told that not only do you have one of the more complicated dances to do this week but you also have to do it to Money from Cabaret. Amazing balance of content and theatricality. So I'm gonna have to share your love of Katya with you :)

I love Katya and Joe. Joe's come along leaps and bounds, Katya is creative and stylish in her choreography whilst showcasing what he has to offer. This is what Strictly is about for me: taking someone with no background in dancing and watching them grow. I'd like them to win but I think Debbie will because she seems popular with the judges and the public.

I LA sorry to disappoint you but Joe has had more dance experience and acting experience than anyone else in the show. It's just that the journalists have no interest in him. It's all there on Wikipedia. He had to smash a dance audition to get into acting school and has gone on to sing and dance in Rent and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang amongst other musicals. Just goes to show how journalists can manipulate the public just to sell media. He was also good in Strictly from the very beginning. It's just that Alexandra and Debbie with less professional experience are simply picking things up more quickly and suffering unfairly for it

thought the judges were gonna slate this because it wasn't a particularly "recognisable samba" but i'm so glad they didn't! like many i was worried when i heard that they had this song to do the samba to that it wouldn't work at all, but it in fact worked brilliantly and there were so many proper samba steps there as well!!

I remember how puzzled I was when I saw it first time: Cabaret and Samba?! I have seen this video about 20 times since then, and each time enjoy it immensely. Perhaps a male professional (say, Neil) would have danced it better, but Joe's expressive face more than makes up for his amateur dancer skills.

Diane Banks he should do out of all the finalists he has probably had the most dancing and acting experience including the high profile musicals Rent and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I have nothing against Joe and loved this dance but he has had such an easy ride compared to the bad press received by both Debbie and Alexandra whilst having an advantage of being a very experienced actor and dancer. Joe has had more acting and dancing experience than anyone left

mercwindow Don't be silly. He's done a few musicals, but a lot of them didn't even require him to dance. He isn't trained in dance, as he switched to musicals later - initially focussing entirely on acting work in his youth. Alexandra by her own admission has been dancing since she was a kid. Lessons in various styles throughout the years. She has judged on a dance tv show and danced a lot on stage while she sang. Add the more recent musicals to that experience and it's nothing like Joe whatsoever. Debbie trained as a ballet dancer up to a level where she could represent a country. She also did touring shows where she danced, and even owned her own dance school at one point. Ridiculous to compare, honestly.

Blah Dlah I am not comparing the contestants dance experience to each other as we are all speculating. I saw Alexandra's interview and disagree with your recounting by the way. But That's not the point. I was trying to point out that the media campaign against Debbie and particularly Alexandra has been unfair at the very least. A lot of it absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with dancing ability or experience. I believe this HAS affected the votes. Only Joe can tell you about his dance experience I apologise to Joe if this is inaccurate. I have googled it. but I refuse to believe that some of these contestants have never danced or developed some musicality after being in musicals and acting for years. I think we should just accept that the show is what the producers decide it is. Not what we think it should be about otherwise why sign people up just to be abused????? At the end of the day none of the contestants are breaking any rules. They all bring something different to the table. Being an experienced actor for instance definitely gives you an advantage. So does having a strong core like Gemma, So does having some dance experience like Alexandra and Debbie. NONE of them are ballroom dancers. Any day job or hobby can give an advantage or edge in a particular dance and it's ridiculous for people to be so narrow minded to turn Debbie and Alexandra into villains. Journalists every year use someone as click fodder , always an easy target and it always seems to be a vulnerable woman. Previously it has been Denise, Susannah, Natalie. I am sure whatever I say won't make any difference but I did want to point out that Joe has been extraordinarily lucky not to have the stress of negative media

Info from the internet I take with a grain of salt we don't know how much dancing people do. My day job is a financier but I have been a ballroom dancer by night for 10 years. Most people I know don't know. By Alexandra recounting I meant I listened to her interview myself and it doesn't match what you have recounted. Lastly you are probably correct here but as I said before you don't know what people do in their private time. I believe Joe will win anyway and will be a deserving one. But so would Debbie and Alexandra be deserving if they stood a chance. The media trashed them early on lessening their chances. All 3 were noticeably better than the other dancers from outset. Just wanted people to stop saying Joe had no experience as if his singing dancing and acting experience didn't count.

Was a bit unsure when they mention the choice of music, more suited to a Charleston perhaps? Diane Reid Joe has kept very quiet about his dance experience and therefore had an easy ride. This is remarkable. Katya is exceptional and is by far the best thing about what has become a somewhat tired and jaded TV show. She worked wonders with Ed, and has put together one choreographic triumph after another with Joe. From the Dr Zhivago Viennese waltz, to the spiderweb foxtrot, from the steel girder quickstep to this samba. On paper this shouldn't work...but it does! The samba can be such a camp, cringey dance. This one, and Danny and Oti's last year, have managed to make it stylish and cool. And Joe is such a versatile performer, he really does Katya's routines justice. He would make a fabulous emcee! I really hope we get to see their showdance! We've been denied an Aston and Janette one, we MUST not miss out on Joe And Katya's.
