Joe and Rose Kennedy Gravesite

This is Joe and Rose Kennedy's gravesite from October 15, 2016. They are buried at Holyhood Cemetery in Brookline, Massachusetts. Their daughter Rosemary Kennedy and other relatives are buried there as well. The Kennedys were the parents of U.S. President John, U.S. Attorney General and U.S. Senator from New York Robert, and U.S. Senator from Massachusetts Edward. The last child born to President Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, Patrick Bouvier Kennedy, was also buried here, until being removed to Arlington National Cemetery, following his father's assassination and burial there in 1963.

Teddy is buried at Arlington too. I read somewhere that a plaque is at Arlington to honor Joe Jr who was killed during WW2 and his remains were never recovered. Such loss. 🇺🇸

All that death came to them because of wicked Joe Kennedy and his father, you reap what you sew. Thank you for this. I have often wondered if JFK Jr was secretly buried here rather than cremated so quickly after his remains were found and then buried at sea. It didn't make sense then, and it still doesn't 20 years later. I would imagine the family would do this to prevent sight seeing and vandalism.

I visited Arlington Nat'l Cemetery in late 90'...I was taken with how simple the grave cites were & became far more emotional than I ever expected. But while there, I noticed the names of *2* graves right beside John & Jackie...the first was their son Patrick who I believe lived for a few days after birth. *but* there was another name...a girl...damn if I can remember the name...maybe Margaret? When I tried to research after was 1 vague comment about a girl who was stillborn but haven't been able to gather any further information on her (am a Kennedy buff). Has anyone else heard of this still born daughter?

Some people call her Arabella but I honestly don’t think she ever had a name. I think it just says “Daughter.” Either they did name her Arabella, or someone falsely named her that and the rumor spread. I’ve never seen it confirmed.

It's interesting to note that only one of Joe & Rose Kennedy's children is buried in the family plot (Rosemary.) All the brothers at Arlington N.C. in Washington (Joe Jr. has a marker there too.) Kathleen in England. Patricia in New York. Eunice in another Massachusetts cemetery. Jean, who recently passed, may or may not be buried in Holyhood.

JFK was reported to have said he’d be buried at Holyhood Cemetery in Brookline. In fact, his infant son, Patrick Bouvier, had been buried there prior to JFK’s assassination. Had the assassination not occurred, it is doubtful that either JFK or RFK would have been buried in Arlington.

Such a tragic family.....such a strong woman. Although the father had come from nothing to the immense wealth that he later held, the mother Rose even through all this tragedy and adultery was the ' unannounced' strength and backbone to this family. But in those years it was very popular for the masculinity role to be the recognised force and the women to answer to it, unquestioned. I suppose today it could be seen has a type of 'Stockholm Syndrome' inside the domestic home. So sad and unfortunate that the daughter did have to injure such an horrific experience in her life. Very appropriate that they are all buried together, to continue their journey together. R.I.P.

Years ago I called the cemetery just to see how much all three would cost. Just basic headstones. It was like 5k. Not so affordable.
