There was a guy that lived near me whose name was Barry Moore (1977). He traded my brother a guitar much like that one for a rifle. When Barry's dad found out about it, he was furious and made him get it back from my brother. I had played it during that two or three week period and had asked my brother what kind of guitar was it, because all it said was Fender. He said its just a Fender and doesn't have a name, "but its a telecaster" as his friend had told him so. After he had traded it back for the rifle, my brother said that Barry's dad was upset because he had played in a band in the fifties and sixties in the Kansas City area and would never sell it. I think his dad's name was Jim...anyway that guitar made an impression on me and I haven't thought about it in decades. RIP Barry.

My husband has same guitar. His Father played with Bucky Pizzarelli long ago on the Air Force band and some time local before Bucky went on to play for Johnny Carson. Also have the Telecaster with the White pick guard dated around 67 ,68. I agree these have a sound all on their own. We heard some of the reissues but it may be the wood they used is not the same. Can never go back. Thanks for sharing and love the Ryman theater CD I just bought. Fantastic and can’t wait to see you on the road again.

I absolutely couldn’t afford it, but I literally played one G chord and knew it was the one. It is just magic. Does everything and anything and then some. Does beautiful piano-like cleans, or makes the whole room shake with an AC/DC style A chord that sounds bigger and fatter than my LP. Would highly recommend a Tele. I found a one piece alder Strat body and built a parts caster around it. I sweated the small stuff, I was ultra super picky about everything that went into it, and now, after owning 7 previous Stratocasters, all of which had something I didn't like, all of the necessary elements have come together, and I have achieved an instrument that is probably worth more as individual parts than as a complete guitar. This is good because I have less than $1500 in it, lots of genuine vintage hardware and electrical, acquired through diligent horse trading and bartering labor for parts. The moral of the story is if you are stubborn and hard headed enough and unwilling to compromise or cut corners and stay the course, you can make something that won't cost as much as a house, and you'll have a "Live One". The only negative comments I get are on the somewhat scruffy appearance, and of course, from the relic haters. But it's not a relic. It's a parts caster made out of old stuff. But I don't try to explain things that will fall on deaf ears. I just play it and enjoy it. "For those who understand, No explanation is necessary For those who do not, None is possible" Chinese proverb

The price of this guitar is insane for a bolt on neck that you can’t even turn the truss rod on without taking it apart. Save the money or get something like a private stock that is actually gig worthy.
@charlesbolton84713 жыл бұрын
Clearly, it is debatable if the price of this guitar is insane especially considering the entire 100 guitar production run is sold out. Aside from that fact, it is much less expensive than the guitar that inspired it. I can say from experience that Fender Custom Shop Relics are extremely close in all aspects to the vintage guitars they are emulating. On the other hand, it is entirely possible to get a great sounding, great playing, and great looking (whatever one personally considers great looking) for a small fraction of the price of this guitar. However, to suggest that a PRS is more gig worthy than a bolt on neck Fender guitar is completely ridiculous. Legendary guitarist (and bassists) had already cemented Fender as one of the most iconic electric guitar manufacturers long before PRS sold their first guitar. That comment is in way meant to be dismissive of what PRS and his company has achieved. I’m well aware that PRS is a great company that makes great guitars to a high quality standard across all of their product lines. I could be wrong since I don’t have any PRS dealers near where I currently live, but I was under the impression that Private Stock PRS guitars started at $10,000? Granted if you can afford an $8,500 guitar chances are you would probably be both willing and able to spend the extra $1,500 or more on something you liked better.
