The suit started because his manager way back when told him everyone was wearing jeans and a t-shirt and he needed to do something different to stand out and suggested the suit because no one was doing that. He only wears Armani. Joe tried it out and kept it as his signature ever since. The sunglasses are because he is light sensitive and his eyes tear up when the spotlight is on him. I heard him talk about that on a podcast. If your a fan you probably already know that, I was just throwing that out there. 🙂

Also, he looked at the other great blues players and they always dressed for performance even if they only had one suit. Kevin Shirley is actually the one who called up Joe and told him the dirty jeans and shirts made him look like a "slob" at least that's what Joe has said.

I was so happy to see that you guys did a reaction to this performance. Beth and Joe are so amazing, there needs to be bigger adjectives to describe them. Since I lack the ability to accurately articulate how incredible they are together, I'll just say that I love and adore both, and I hope to one day be sitting in a crowd watching them live. Hi. Like you, I just love to hear Beth and Joe, singly is good but together, they just explode with great riffs and amazing vocals. This is one of my favourite songs. I am in no doubt that, whilst their performances seem to just come naturally to our ears, their respective skills have involved thousands of hours of practice and dedication in order to become the exciting and beloved performers that they are today. Great comments concerning Beth’s pronounciation and movement. She never stops moving during a performance (even during solos) and continually channels and physically becomes the music. For lyrics in general (and particularly for her own songs) she modifies pronounciation, cuts short vowels, and gives meaning to each and every syllable in a word. Her attention to detail is mind-blowing but it is because she is sings lyrics like one plays notes on a guitar or piano-the words are converted into music itself.

@@orlock20 yeah....everyone has a couple they regret. sometimes, it's their most recognizable hits. example: Bobby McFerrin's "Don't Worry, Be Happy." World loves it. He hates that THAT is the song most people know him for when there is so much better stuff he has done. fortunately none of the ones i listed are on that list. She has incredible lives of all of those.

She performs only a fraction of album songs in concert--they have to translate well to the live setting. You know better than most that there are no bad BH songs....except maybe about half of what's on 'BH & The Ocean of Souls'--that, she does hate.

That is not correct and there is no shortage of information about this--Beth always tells you what's what with her. She has rarely ever performed under the influence even during the worst period of her addictions (1999-2000). Her drug (mostly Klonopin) and alcohol abuse was generally periodic (i.e., she would disappear for a week). Beth's biggest and ever-present challenges stem from mental illness and when you see her acting hyper and weird you are seeing bipolar "mania." She has had a number of serious mental breakdowns in 1999 -2000, 2007, 2015, and most recently September 2023 where she had to cancel her entire 11-city US tour (and I missed 2 opportunities to see her). It's not clear whether this most recent set-back was an alcohol-related 'slip' or more psychological in nature. Either way, she's a true survivor and has a lot of support--so far, she is still scheduled right now to start a European tour in Germany on Nov 4th. But you are correct about the "monkey"--that's exactly what her song "Monkey Back" from the 2003 'Leave The Light On' album is about. @@jamesnelson1968

She owns this festival to such an extent that the organizers adjust the festival dates to her schedule. She’s headlined it since 2019.
