Yes he does and I love it. Men in America usually try to hide emotions. I was not one of them and the ability to use my emotions to help save my life, through the grace of God, is my biggest strength.

I have been a guitarist for over 50 years. I learnt to play this song about 30 years ago. It`s a song that I don`t play in front of other people. Because everytime I play it, I cry. Greetings from Australia, love you two.

I've been playing guitar for 51 years, myself and also play this song. I don't remember exactly when I learned it but I think it was during college, 40+ years ago and I have played it in public. When I first learned to play it, I thought that it was about a broken relationship. But having lost my father 23 years ago and, at some point, learning what the song was written about, it made it hit differently. I will still play and perform it, but the meaning has definitely changed for me. I now give the explanation of the song to the audience before I play it.

Life is hard sometimes, but we can do it, for our folks, they gave us the privelege of life. I have lost both parents, mum had a heat attack. I was with her, we had a good morning watching her movies, then The doctors took over and I couldn't be with her.. the song is sad, but beautiful.

I adore both of you and your reaction. Too often, we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. I live in Florida, USA, and I'm an old man, but your compassion and love make me feel young again. You give me faith that good people and kindness still exist in this world. Thank you for all you do. The world is a better place when you show us who you are and show us your heartfelt kindness.

We do not live forever..one day that heavy sadbag we carry will be taken away. I am dutch and living for eight years in Austria. I told myself get a second life somewhere else. Our Planet is to beautiful to leave early. All the lovely people I miss are going with me. Helped me a lot. All sad people out there go for it...life is short enough.🙂

@hansvanhees5689 So true. You don't know what you've got til it's gone. I lost my wife 43 years ago at the age of 25. Complications from the delivery of our son. She passed away 3 weeks after he was born. We were only together for 6 short years. I promised myself that I would do things with my son as he grew up to make good memories. He is 43 years old now and he is all I have. All my family and friends are long gone. A lot of things I regret but have some good memories with my son. Don't let life pass you by. It's way too short and you only have one chance. Live it to the fullest.

I don't think there's ever has been a band that played so many beautiful songs that go straight to the heart. They have a special place in my heart. I have always been a heavy/ hard rock fan but these guys crash through that hard shell and turn me into fluffy pillow.

Love you both. The world needs more people like you two. My sister passed away in February of 2023 at 75 from ovarian cancer. She was more of a mom to me than my birth mom. There was 10 years between us and she being older AND a beautiful human being, she modeled kindness, compassion and the Golden Rule. Her passing came on quickly and so there wasn’t a lot of time to plan her burial. Plus, she had a Jewish burial and so it must happen within a certain time period. Because the time from her passing to the burial was short, we didn’t think many people could or would show up to the service; maybe 20 or so. Well, there were almost 125 people there; her colleagues, her students, (she was a grade school teacher), friends and relatives. She was a bright light to all who knew her and anchor for me in my life. It hasn’t been easy without her this past year and a half. Furthermore, grief is an elusive “character” and can hit you hard at any moment, usually unannounced. As soon as I heard the song start, I burst into tears and started to sob. Although it’s painful, I am grateful that I can FEEL the sadness, the loss and that I have not been numbed to this experience. My grief is a tribute to her; I never want it to go away but rather allow it to come and go as needed so that it may become my “friend” rather than enemy. Love you both❤.

Don’t apologize for showing us how big your hearts are. It shows the depth of your character and your capacity for love. This song affects many people in the same way as it has affected you. Very simple, very clean and pure and gentle melody, but the lyrics are powerful, straightforward, and cut way down to the bone of who we are. Your channel is the best example of a reaction channel, because of videos like this where you are honest and brave enough to show your authentic selves. This is the definition of a reaction. Whether you react with excitement, thrill and happiness over a song, or react with heartfelt sorrow, your reactions are authentic and real and this is precisely why you are my favorite channel. Bravo to you both. 👏👏

Never apologize for showing your tears. To be human and to be compassionate is so, so much better than coldness and indifference. I have always been empathetic , so I totally understand the pain and the awe we feel when a beautiful song or story grabs our emotions and won’t let go. In my book, you’re a beautiful man to be open and expressive in your mind and soul.

This Friday will be 14 years since I lost my sweet husband to pancreatic cancer and it is true I would give almost anything to have him back. I am lucky because we had 2 1/2 years after his diagnosis to say all the things you want to say before he was gone and also I know I will see him again in heaven. My heart goes out to the people who didn't get to say all they wanted to say and who don't have that assurance. God bless you both.

Had my son not passed at 19 he would now be 42 and in the last 5 yrs I have lost 4 siblings, life can be hard and beautiful all at the same time. The only thing I truly want for me personally in this life is to leave this world before my husband. Not any time soon though for I'm not ready. This song gives me the sads. It was played at the funeral of my husband’s former boss’s wife’s funeral. She was a young mother that died from breast cancer leaving her husband and two very young children to grieve her. It’s been about 25 years since we attended her funeral but I think of her and her family often, especially when I hear this song. Her husband left his very demanding job after her death and we lost touch with him. I hope that he and those sweet children are doing well. ❤

Bread was my favorite band growing up in the 70's and it is partly because of the beautiful and meaningful lyrics of their songs.

I've been listening to this song since its release in 1972, and to this day, when I hear it, it gets me in my feels. Like most songs, when these artists write them, they want them to fit your own life narrative and want you to take it how it fits best with you. Thats the beauty and the genius of being able to write songs...that everyone can make it their own. For me..this time in my life...I think of my Mom. ❤ I love Bread. ❤️

- Yeah, this one hits hard! :( - Lost my dad 30 years ago, when I was 33. - I smile for all that was. And sometimes/occasionally, I cry for what could have been, but never came to be. - And, when my mother died, for her eulogy, I wrote a very short "poem": "We hurt. We heal. We grow..." :) - May you ANDREI, DOMINIKA, and all others find healing and growth through "loss"... And remember, sometimes crying/release is good. - Take care, and be well

I had a smile through the first part of the song. My sisters (who are all older than myself) always listen to Bread when I was a youngster. This song, my sister Monica, played for my dad who died young at the age of 53 of cancer. My dad loved being a parent, he enjoy the company of his children and we often did things together, that I never saw my friends do with their fathers. So I was remembering my Dad with a smile, as the song continued my thoughts turned to my sister, who was killed by an elderly driver, who ran her down in a crosswalk in November of last year. The fallout and grieving still continues. Not just because she was killed in tragic accident, but she lived in a province (where the law had change in 2021), so we are unable to sue for her death, with the new law. The driver (there were 2 people in the car) was not held responsible if you can believe that, even thought he hit my sister Monica, in the marked lit crosswalk. The police said they found no negligence, so the driver was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian and fined 200.00, and is back on the road. My sister was airlifted to hospital (her injuries were extensive) and she underwent 8 hrs of surgery to put the bottom part of her body back together a few days after the accident. When they did an MRI on her brain the day after surgery, it was discovered she had serve brain damage and would not recover from her injuries, life support was removed and she died an hour later. Without my mother or myself able to be with her, my older sisters were with her. Then there is the dealing with the estate and all that entails, and I am so tired of it ! I recently visited my mom (who has to deal with one thing, for which life holds no compensation for - the loss of a child), and we had to discuss some of the issues and I said I don't care about any of it, I just want Monica back... of course she agreed....

Nothing wrong with crying big man, Jess wept. It shows a unique empathy God gave us humans that we are created in his image. My dad who was in WW2 passed in 2011, I cry every time I hear this song. Our music from the 70s had a way of moving the soul. Its all good
