Almost 30 years ago, Richie released his solo album. It was a pure blues album and he did a really great job on it. He used to be a great blues man, but these days, especially after he left BON JOVI, his guitar play is so selfish and crazy. I miss you, come back Richie.

Joe steps up dressed in a rain jacket and a ball cap. That is why he is so good!!! He doesn't give two fucks what anyone thinks of his so called, "image" lol. He shows all of his personality through his hands, not by his, "style of dress". Same with Clapton, Mayer, and many other bluesers!!! Its about the music! Not about glamour!!!

to be fair, he loves his suits and shades. he's said in interviews he likes to play dressed up, because earlier blues greats did. but he'll also turn up casual. is it a problem if a blues player likes to have an image?

Gotta love Joe - he can rip it out if he wants to, but he knows when to be more subtle with some incredible and tight phrasing right there. Not to mention his tone was amazing, and his vibrato was so on point as well. Man deserves his status as a modern guitar god. I like Richie Sambora but he should have laid down the licks when Joe was singing near the end. It felt awkward IMO.

Sambora is the type of guy that has to have everything pre worked out and obviously was very successful at it but surprisingly in this video he comes off as the rock guy at a blues jam that totally doesn't fit in as well as the blonde. Still a great musician and has light years of radio play over any of us critics.

I keep coming back to footage from this gig. It's so incredibly uncomfortable to watch and unrelenting in it's awkwardness. The tail end of the solo and then answer lines beginning around 4:28 Later at 8:02 where Joe tries to bring it down and then Ritchies noise at 8:08 is especially funny/horrible, like the proverbial fart in church
