I bought my first guitar and amp at Joe Chamber's music store in Murfreesboro in 1994 while in college at MTSU. @@gibsondrummer annoying how? I love how he nerds out over guitars and gear and for a guy who was touring with BB King when he was 12, he is one of the most modest people I have ever seen. One attribute that both B.B. King and Buddy Guy have that many big name accomplished musicians, mainly guitarists, don't is the willingness to listen to young talent. Both knew that the future survival of the Blues genre would fall on the younger generation and were known to invite young talent to join them on stage. BG invited a young 8 year old by the name of Quinn Sullivan to join him on stage after Guy asked him to play something on the small Squire Strat Sullivan had asked him to sign when his father took him to see BG when he played a venue in their hometown of New Bedford, MA. The moment BG heard Sullivan rip a few bars he wanted Sullivan to join him on stage. The rest is history. Sullivan may not have reached the level of accomplishment that JB has, yet, but BG mentoring & friendship has put Sullivan on the right track.

Joe, I had a Cortez les paul copy. It was the first guitar that i played professionally with and that guitar was sweet. It had a mahogany body, rosewood board and a carved maple top and had unreal sustain with double humbuckers. . Played and set up beautifully. I hawked it to get my wife out of jail for DUI. I should have just left her there but she was my wife. that was around 1978 when I bought that. It was almost 300.

Your Cortez was better than mine. I had to sell my 1974 Gibson Les Paul in 1986 to put a gas floor furnace in our home since our first child Brittney was just a few months old and all we had was a wood burning stove to heat the whole house which was fine except the house was below freezing sometimes when we got home from work and getting the fire going was sometimes a bitch!! Best, Joe C.

I remember I wanted a guitar (early 2000)and I couldn't get one because my mom said it was to loud, so I said I wanted a some money for a golden watch. My mom and dad went on vacation, gave me some household money and for my birthday present, first thing I did is got to the city with my brother and bought an HSS squire strat.

Tom Oberheim made the Maestro Phaser. Now Tom is making a recreation of his 1980 synths, the Oberheim OB-X8. I saw Joe play on a stage in Pacific Beach (San Diego), CA with only about 50 people watching. My girlfriend said he was a genius. He did sound great.

I was extremely in lucky in this regard. My old man has an '81 LP custom. Took my first three months of lessons on that guitar, and the old man got me an Olympic white strat for my birthday, we set it up that night, still have it, hell got it in '93, so what's that? Thirty years? I also now own that same '81 custom and three other LPs, a 335, two SGs and a tele.

I had a small business in the early aughts, and when I was in the town his store was in I used to spend an hour shooting the bull and listening to Bloodlines latest with Joe's father Len. He was a cool guy who treated me well. I think sometimes he was glad to see me even though I never bought more than a pack of strings. The truth is , a lot of local musicians hated on Joe out of jealousy. They said he was a novelty because he was young , and wouldn't last past puberty kind of thing. They were wrong.

That Maestro phase shifter is half of Waylon Jennings sound. I'm 63 and haven't played live in 25 years. I am craving a Jazzmaster. I have never owned a guitar with tremolo and I want one. lol At least a Strat but the Jazzmaster and Jaguars also intrigued me. I always wanted one as a young player but when I started playing the music I was playing leaned towards the humbuckers. It's a child hood dream. Hopefully it's all I expected.

When I gave lessons to young students I actually taught the parent/ parents how to make all the adjustments and do a generic set up to a least make a guitar playable and at least close to being intonated... That made the kids happy to work on their lessons

I never thought I'd see old Harmony and Silvertones go through the roof, but it happened. Ditto with early 80's Squiers. Those were cheap guitars in their day, but I think there are several cheap ones being made now that will be collectible/valuable in the future.

James.... the very late 70’s/early 80’s Japanese made Squire 57 V-neck strat reissues are great. The necks that are heavily V’d are my favorites. I’d love to have one in any condition. Best, Joe

I know Joe B. has received flack about his using Eric Johnson licks. But Stevie Ray Vaughan made a career out of Albert King’s and I never heard negative connotations about that. Stevie was monster, but I’d rather listen to Albert. Joe B. blew new air into the blues balloon...but he is not a one trick pony. We are lucky to have a new generation of guitarists and musicians like him to keep the flame burning. JUST LIKE YOU MR. CHAMBERS...JUST LIKE YOU!!
