One attribute that both B.B. King and Buddy Guy have that many big name accomplished musicians, mainly guitarists, don't is the willingness to listen to young talent. Both knew that the future survival of the Blues genre would fall on the younger generation and were known to invite young talent to join them on stage. BG invited a young 8 year old by the name of Quinn Sullivan to join him on stage after Guy asked him to play something on the small Squire Strat Sullivan had asked him to sign when his father took him to see BG when he played a venue in their hometown of New Bedford, MA. The moment BG heard Sullivan rip a few bars he wanted Sullivan to join him on stage. The rest is history. Sullivan may not have reached the level of accomplishment that JB has, yet, but BG mentoring & friendship has put Sullivan on the right track.

Joe, I had a Cortez les paul copy. It was the first guitar that i played professionally with and that guitar was sweet. It had a mahogany body, rosewood board and a carved maple top and had unreal sustain with double humbuckers. . Played and set up beautifully. I hawked it to get my wife out of jail for DUI. I should have just left her there but she was my wife. that was around 1978 when I bought that. It was almost 300.

Your Cortez was better than mine. I had to sell my 1974 Gibson Les Paul in 1986 to put a gas floor furnace in our home since our first child Brittney was just a few months old and all we had was a wood burning stove to heat the whole house which was fine except the house was below freezing sometimes when we got home from work and getting the fire going was sometimes a bitch!! Joe, I quit playing a couple of years ago but your specials are boiling the fire in me. I was always told I wasn’t good enough. To those people I say Bull Shit. And I still have a lot of my gear

I never thought I'd see old Harmony and Silvertones go through the roof, but it happened. Ditto with early 80's Squiers. Those were cheap guitars in their day, but I think there are several cheap ones being made now that will be collectible/valuable in the future.

James.... the very late 70’s/early 80’s Japanese made Squire 57 V-neck strat reissues are great. The necks that are heavily V’d are my favorites. I’d love to have one in any condition. Best, Joe

I know Joe B. has received flack about his using Eric Johnson licks. But Stevie Ray Vaughan made a career out of Albert King’s and I never heard negative connotations about that. Stevie was monster, but I’d rather listen to Albert. Joe B. blew new air into the blues balloon...but he is not a one trick pony. We are lucky to have a new generation of guitarists and musicians like him to keep the flame burning. JUST LIKE YOU MR. CHAMBERS...JUST LIKE YOU!!

We had just bought forty five guitars, but they were for "the shop."

Hi Nik.... yes I had the same situation with my guitar shops. I had to sell the great guitars I had to pay the bills. Thanks again for watching....Joe
