I think Mal was wrong in that assessment in that he thought Joe thinks that the popularity of the podcast was a trickledown effect from his Rap career. The CORE AUDIENCE showed up because of his rap career. Then you can literally see a bump in podcast numbers following the following events that surrounded Joe: -Love and Hip Hop. -Beef with Drake. -Starts working at Complex/Everyday Struggle -Ends working relationship at Complex/Everyday Struggle The only reason why they got the Spotify deal, is because Spotify wanted Joe while he was working at Everyday Struggle, and Complex wouldn't cut him a larger check based on revenue that was being brought in by having a 5th show (Joe was only contractually obligated to work Mon-Thurs). So as soon as Joe left Complex, the Spotify deal came. And to show you how much they didn't want Rory and Mal, they signed JOE to provide content. Not The Joe Budden Podcast and crew. Spotify paid Joe, Joe paid everyone off that deal. Yes, Mal is right that he helped MAINTAIN the popularity of the show, but his and Rory's presence did not boost numbers. Those 4 events that I laid out did.

11:01 it's not just a feeling Mal. It's a fact. Joe's core audience always had his back no matter what he did. It was your overinflated ego that couldn't realize this.

I feel like the pod at it’s peak was great content but man just knowing how it ended and Joe publicly bashing Rory and Mal never sat right with me knowing they never said one thing publicly about that man, I’m glad they both went they’re separate ways and is doing better started watching Joes pod again and it’s good wish nothing but the best for all of them hopefully we get a re union episode a year or two down the line
