So tired of hearing that they were marine or a vet. I'm a veteran so let me tell you it doesn't mean shit. He could've been a cook or a office assistant for all you know. Being a vet doesn't automatically mean that you were special forces or anything even close to it. And that choke was awful. He looked like a guy that watches the UFC but didn't know shit about chokeholds. If he had any clue of what he was doing he definitely would've let go after the guy went limp. A rear naked choke is a blood choke and not an airway choke. It would only take about 6 seconds to put somebody out.

It's actually 8-13 seconds of of squeezing the carotid artery(ies) which actually runs behind the jawbone. Squeezing both significantly decreases the time. The sweet spot is actually the side of the neck where the jaw protrudes(which would pinch the jugular also lessening the time needed). Long story short if you attempt and the individual isn't in incapacitated in 6-10 seconds, dude should've let go. Already taking his back and locking his waist with his legs would have done more than enough to subdue him especially with others around. Him flailing around is hardly a threat.Attempting a technique that results in someone dying is Manslaughter to a T. It's clear from the video thay his position is terribly off. His shoulders aren't even back and chest isn't open(thats where the leverage from the blood choke comes from). Bottom line don't attempt moves designed to incapacitate/disable in situations where subduing is more than enough, especially when your training don't equal your ability. Same reason you shouldn't be throwing elbows and muay thai knees to the head these will disable. If any move is significant to render someone unconscious it can kill. The whitest of whitebelts know this.

Putting race aside, let’s just think about what’s been happening to average New Yorkers using the MTA within the last year. Customers have randomly been pushed into the tracks, assaulted, and robbed. MTA fails to protect their own employees, as uniformed & non-uniformed have been assaulted on & off the clock numerous times this year alone. It was just last Summer a man got on the train and began shooting INNOCENT people for no reason. With all of that being said, the MTA has done nothing to increase people’s safety while riding the train or while waiting on platforms. The MTA & mayor keep reporting train crime is a down from last year & they think adding cops to the station to make sure people don’t hop is a solution, well it isn’t. Train crime has only gotten worse since the pandemic, despite travel not even returning to pre-pandemic numbers. I really believe gone are the days where if someone gets on the train now and is making threatening statements, or acting erratic people will just ignore them. To Mel‘s point about just going to another train car, you can no longer do that as MTA began locking the train doors to prevent people from walking between cars while the train is moving. So in the event that you feel like you’re being threatened, or someone is shooting there is no place to go until you get to the next stop. It’s a bad situation, with a failed system, with leaders who are failing to take heightened steps to ensure safety of NYers.

This is one perspective that not many are taking into consideration (it's also why as someone with a mental illness I don't fuck with ppl unless they fuck with me 1st or causing me harm) it's unfortunate that the man was Deleted but a lot of folks are on edge, shit everything is too high from gas, rent, food you name it these things make ppl more prone to Wilding out not to mention the fact that many civil servants particularly in NYC secretly want more Crime & violence so they can justify their ever expanding Dystopian Police State by sending in bad apples to scare & harm folks or targeting & harassing fragile ppl until they snap & hurt others

RIP to the deceased On the flip side the behavior shouldn’t be condoned due to mental illness. Civilians in a confined space shouldn’t be subjected to threatening behavior at all. If someone space is violated Said individual has the right to defend themselves. Not one person stated that the marine made any remarks/comments to the deceased in a matter to intentionally harm him including when the restraint was applied and held. Not one person on the JBP podcast , including Joe, would allow someone to act in a way within their personal space freely. FOH Queens flip Has made how many videos over his career by getting in artists’ faces yet he wouldn’t do that to a professional fighter , a real o.G Or someone with “mental illness” because he knows the repercussions of acting in a way. There’s more than dude just got on the train, yelled and Penny threw him in a choke hold. I need to hear all of the evidence. I ride the train and 9 times out of 10 you just ignore these homeless dudes yelling. But recently they been doing more than yelling, like stabbing people, assaulting, pushing people on the tracks for no apparent reason. So those days are like gone of just ignoring someone’s ranting.

Dude held on for those extra last few seconds when he was supposed to let go. This is why its very important to notice when you opponent is trying to TAP OUT. He should be prosecuted off the soul fact that he completely forgot about the principles of properly choking your opponent out without him losing total consciousness. That is 100% on the choking party. Its really that simple. No more details needed.

Cut the BS. Neely had a need that neither family or City were able to handle despite being on a list of high profile needs. The people who keep saying he was murdered need to stop using the word. You know nothing about the law. It is manslaughter at best. The situation is tragic, not murder. Neely was threatening harm to people on the train. The people on the train have a right not to be terrorized by people no matter what his mental health status is. The reason NYC and NYS is out of control is because people have lost the will to defend society. 40 + arrests for child endangerment and assaulting a 67 year old woman by punching her in the face??? Neely was a threat to himself and others. The recent laws in NYS are why this happened. There is zero accountability from law enforcement or the judiciary.

@Haigan Smith Stop acting like a btch. You know damn well manslaughter is part of everyday vocabulary. Also, back up your point with data. Show that NYC is out of control, and let's compare it to big cities in the U.S. Now, NYC cost of living is out of control. Here's the thing no, we're not going to have different tiers of justice based on race. If you're Black and you kill someone, you end up in jail, and the whites will be held to that same standard.
