Eubank never gets the credit he deserves, because after the Michael Watson fight, he went from being an amazing fighter, to a fighter who does just enough to win on points, but that’s it. That cost him a lot of fans, but all credit to him, after putting a fighter into a wheelchair for the rest of his life, he clearly determined that he would never allow that to happen again.

Great honesty from Joe. Really likeable, and what a warrior. They were all warriors in that era.
@trevorberridge607910 күн бұрын
Calzaghe may have been exhausted from early in the fight but he had enormous reserves of will. The more Chris pummeled him the stronger he seemed to get. At one point he seemed invulnerable. There was a definite point at which I thought 'Chris has shot his bolt. He's never going to stop Calazaghe'. Joe had the recuperation powers of Wolverine. He was fast. Powerful. Mobile. And, unlike many who got more acclaim, he was undefeated. Unquestionably the best in his class in the UK and one of the best in the world at that time. I must be fair and state that I think the Watson fight affected Eubanks ever after and he couldn't give 110% to a fight after that. I don't think he's ever said it outright, but there was always a lingering fear of killing someone in the ring. Could that extra 10% have changed the fight? Maybe. But a Calzaghe win would always have been a possibility whichever Eubank he faced. Joe was a phenomenon. He absorbed punishment as well as he dished it out.

Absolute BS. The reason he was less known, was due to him choosing to fight whoever Frank Warren and the WBO lined up for him for a decade. He chose to defend a low level title. He chose to fight mostly non world level opposition. How on earth did Sky let him down exactly? They aired most of his fights. It also has nothing to do with nationality. He went under the radar for years simply through the choices that he made.
