What a line up! Jim Keltner (drums) Billy Preston (Hammond B3) Dean Parks (acoustic guitar) Tony Joe White (Guitar & harmonica) James hutchinson (bass) Wow! Double wow!!

Your right it's a great line-up, to bad we don't have the outstanding Jim Gordon, he just passed. I saw Cocker with Jim Keltner, Jim Gordon and Leon Russell in the 1970's when Joe did the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour. Now that was a concert that you would never forget.

It's kinda cynical to call what JC did "covering" a song. Re-interpreting it and making a new, beautiful version of it is more like it. I can "cover" lots of songs. But I'm not being falsely modest when I say that my versions don't have the same effects on listeners, nor do they sell millions of copies. RIP Joe Cocker. A true legend.

no other cover of such masterpiece can compare with this version! and another voice like Joe’s will never come into this world again….. ❤

The studio version of this on Joe's 1991 studio album Night Calls is equally, if not more, awesome. Huge fan of Blind Faith's original acoustic version, but as others have stated here, when Joe rocks something he really does make it his own. I bought Night Calls when it first came out, a great album that's still a pleasure to listen to. His cover of of Gary Wright's 'Love is Alive' is an equally kick-ass track. Honorable mention for the cover of Elton John's 'Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me'
