The worst part of this is how Philadelphia treated this man. A statue for Rocky, but none for Joe while he was still alive. There is a statue now, but the man is gone... In 2006, people were raving about the new Rocky film generating millions. Philadelphia swarmed around Rocky once more. In the same time, Joe was struggling to keep his small gym up and running in one of the poorest neighbourhoods. He failed, and the gym closed down. Philadelphia didn't bat an eye. Only after he is dead, did they say yes to a statue but Balboa is still more recognizable than Frazier in Philly. A city that supposedly loves its athletes and prides itself on brotherly love. But there was no love for old Joe Frazier. Shame on Philadelphia,

@randallstephens82737 жыл бұрын
wakaka2waka You're right. there is now a statue there for Fraizer although throughout the city you can always find Rocky Balboa memorabilia but only one statue of Fraizer. I remember watching old highlights of Friazer's fights when i started boxing. The man was true class and a warrior. Although I will defend the Rocky Statue as well because it represents the love of boxing to many and to a lot it marks a piece of what motivated them to get into fitness. although there are tons of people who just like it because of the movies. but if you walk the streets of philly, you can understand why Fraizer was the man that he was.

Ali won the second fight due to his numerous illegal clinches to stop Frazier flurries and in their final grudge match Ali was spent he gave in. Frazier's corner gave up for Frazier but he was still able to go Ali was the one who told his corner to cut off his gloves. Even if they went the 15th round Frazier had him we saw Ali give everything in the fourteenth trying to end it there he had nothing he collapsed right after announcing his win.

I heard Joe Frazier say on Television, and he was speaking to Muhammad Ali, "If I did anything wrong to you, forgive me". I knew then that Joe Frazier was a righteous man. I said to myself that if I was young enough I would have wanted to win a championship for Joe Frazier before he passed away. I heard Marvis Frazier say that when Ali was suspended from boxing Joe Frazier helped Ali out with money and the use of the Joe Frazier Boxing Gym. With this new information, I now believe Ali should have had more respect for Joe. I loved Ali as a person and a fighter. But, I would like to ask the Frazier family to forgive Ali. I don't want the Frazier family or any Christian family to think bad of all Muslims. Ali said that the taunting of Joe was to help to promote the fight so both fighters can make millions of dollars. Rest in peace Joe. In my heart, I know that you were a righteous man. And, I thank God for your example.

I understand this view will be unpopular but he represented the blue-collar people with pride, courage and utter dignity. Muhammad Ali was a great man for sure but for me he did not have an ounce of the dignity that Joe had. Man, I love this video so much. Smokin Joe will always be my favorite boxer of all time. His fights with Muhammad Ali is legendary, especially Thrilla in Manila. Getting up after 6 knockdowns with Foreman, going the distance with Ali with their 3 matches together, (winning one and one stopped before the 15th, though Joe wanted to keep going despite his corners approval), watching his bob and weave technique, so entertaining to watch. When Michael Buffer said at the end of this video, ''rest in peace champion'', I had tears. This man was truly a warrior in the ring. The movie line in Rocky 2: Duke telling Apollo about the first fight with Rocky and I quote, Duke: '' I saw you beat that man, like no man has ever been beaten, and the man kept coming after you.'' This sums up the kind of fighter Joe Frazier was.

I was a huge Ali fan as a kid and it was easy to dislike Joe...Ali made such ruthless fun of him...but man, as I grew older and really watched him, it is just as easy to respect him and his ability. A really punishing fighter...and man, those body shots...Thanks for posting and jogging my memory. RIP Joe.
