Back in the early 1970's my family owned a country cottage in a small town in northern New England. In the summer of 73, this new guy shows up from NY and it turns out he had just purchased the cottage next to ours, and he went by the name of Pete. This guy was very friendly but with his heavy Brooklyn accent, heavy set build and balding head, he stood out like a sore thumb. Once we got to talking, it turns out he actually went by the "Pete the Greek" moniker and he admitted to me he had actually been involved in a shootout back in NY, which I'd have to think, was the Joey Gallo hit, that he was referring to, since Pete was Joey Gallo's bodyguard that night. Even though I didn't know it at the time, Pete was probably one of the first guys to go into the witness protection program!
