@john71564 ай бұрын
Christopher Bell introducing Chase Briscoe is a nice touch from JGR. Something else interesting is Bob Pockrass asked Coach Gibbs if he had plans to bring the #18 back and he said there are no plans at this time to bring the #18 back. Gibbs probably felt that Kyle Busch has left such a lasting legacy for the #18 car, in addition to Dale Jarrett and Bobby Labonte, that he is probably saving the number for when the time is right. Likely waiting until Denny Hamlin retires and brings the #11 to 23XI and then maybe the #18 will return with a new driver.
@isaiahmarker4074 ай бұрын
I've heard that the 11 was JD's number so JGR probably won't ever let it go
@john71564 ай бұрын
@@isaiahmarker407I was wondering about the #11 too with JD’s legacy. Denny wants to retire with JGR and if Coach Gibbs retains the #11, then the other option is the #54 becomes the #18 again with Ty Gibbs and a new driver will take over the #11. Since JGR is keeping the #19 for now, it looks like their future lineup is 20, 19, and 11, while the 54 is a question mark at this point with Ty Gibbs. Who knows when the #18 would return but I think Jeff Gordon said it best when he retired. Jeff said he would rather see #24 continue to compete on track than being retired and I am sure fans and former drivers of the #18 would rather see the car number on track and continue with a new driver.

@@isaiahmarker407If I recalled correctly, Kyle Busch ran the 54 with his brother Kurt as a KBM Xfinity series team for a while before Kyle brought the number and Monster Energy sponsorship into JGR. So I guess in a way, Kyle did play a small role in building a legacy with the 54 and now Ty Gibbs is creating his own legacy with the Xfinity championship title and now continuing it in the Cup Series. So definitely for sure the 54 will stick around with Gibbs in Cup.

This announcement brings 2 things to light for me 1)JGR sponsors are tied to JGR not the driver It makes WAY more sense now that JGR doesn't let their drivers take part in activies outside of NASCAR. Unlike drivers who are tied to the sponsor (ie: Chase Elliot with NAPA) Joe Gibbs is on the hook for lost money if a driver can't race the car. 2)I'm worried about the dynamic between Briscoe and Small I'm not questioning James Small's intelligence or ability to make the right call in the heat of the moment. But, James Small is well known to be a combative personality with Truex. Those two CONSTANTLY bicker and bitch each other out. Chase Briscoe just isn't that type of guy so I worry that James Small will be bickering with Briscoe mid race, and instead of motivating Briscoe, like it seems to do for Truex, it will just discourage him and he will fall off. Some drivers get really motivated when angry, I'm personally that way, but other drivers don't handle that well and require more uplifting motivation, and I think Briscoe is the type that requires more uplifting when times get tough.

As a Truex and 19 fan this is surprising. As long as James Small is the crew chief on that car it will never be a champion. Yeah, you'll get your 1, or 2 wins a season, but you'll also give away 3, or 4 more. Whether it's mistakes on pit stops, taking 2 tires when you know you're driver can't race on 2, or just botching the strategy. It is what it is. Maybe they'll see it more with a different driver. I'm happy for Chase, but he is going to have an uphill battle at first.
@benjaminpriano95354 ай бұрын
Found it funny that Christopher Bell introduced the new driver. With Chase Briscoe going to JGR, what happens now to Chandler Smith? I thought Chandler Should get the 19 car because he's young and he's shown he's ready. If 23XI gets another charter, do they bring Chandler up? I don't think so, as Cory Heim is also making a case that he's cup ready. Back to Chandler, why would Chandler leave Kaulig for JGR if JGR won't put him in a cup car? Sure, Kaulig is struggling in cup and for the most part in Xfinity, but Chandler got starts with Kaulig last year. I don't know if Chandler feels slighted now by JGR for not picking him.

Glad this all worked out very well for Chase Briscoe! I've said this in another video, but he's grown on me so much over the past few seasons. He's got a lot of talent/potential, he's grown and matured considerably, and he's a hard worker, so I'm glad to see how much support and backing he has here (surprised and happy to see Bass Pro Shop sticking with the #19). One thing that came up during this interview was how Joe Gibbs himself would reach out to Briscoe after they started talking telling him how much he wanted him in that #19 and how motivating that was for him to hear that. Just another example of how teams like JGR and Hendrick have been so successful compared to SHR because they have leaders who are active and a huge part of that team and not just a name on the building.

I can see that? However the thing I meant ask was that how many more competitive/title contending seasons does he have left. How many more chances will Denny have of winning his first cup title?
