Joe Hisaishi - A Town with an Ocean View (Kiki's Delivery Service) // Piano (arr. Hirohashi Makiko)

Summer is in full swing here, and I feel like this track fits the mood perfectly!
At this point I'm defaulting to playing Hirohashi Makiko's arrangements for anything Ghibli - they're just too good!
Though this one in particular really called me out on where my technique is lacking, hope it turned out well enough despite the splices! Limited recording time wasn't doing me any favors today lol
I really have to get back to uploading more often, it's been far too long! I haven't arranged anything in a while either, I'll get rusty at this point

This is one of my favorite arrangements of all time. I see it as the iconic beginning to all those 1.5hr "piano studio ghibli collection" videos that I've listened to dozens of times while studying. So glad to hear another performance of this!

This is probably one of my favorite ghibli songs of all time. Hopefully when I graduate highschool and college I can afford a piano as nice as yours that I can play on in my spare time; and maybe even play as wonderfully as you do!

This has be one of my favorite Joe Hisaishi pieces. This arrangement is also so good. I was trying to arrange this same piece for fingerstyle guitar but most of the times I end up losing the tonal quality of some parts but in this case everything is clean and on point. Good job playing this, looking towards more of your content!

Thank you for tuning me in on the Makiko Hirohashi arrangements! I love his Merry Go Round of Life arrangement because it's one of the few that opens with the slow jazz 9th and 11th chords used at the beginning of the movie when it pans across the wastes. Ugh, long comment now, but in the same vein I recommend the Moises Nieto arrangements of the Octopath Traveler themes on KZbin -- I think he has links to *all* of the sheet music. Thanks again for your stellar performance!

I started playing piano 5 months ago and this piece seems like it would be something I could learn after 2 years or more of practice lol! Yey! I'm getting my monthly dose of Caliko piano again! What a treat! Lol. Btw I've always been curious about that gyroscope you put on top of your piano. Is that the same top from your old covers from years ago? Have you tried spinning it while playing a song at the same time? It would be cool if it can spin the whole way after you play a piece. Although if it spins too long we might think we were dreaming while watching your video haha.

Yes, it's the very same one! I got it as a gift from a friend years ago. I admit I did try spinning it while playing Time lol, but unfortunately it doesn't spin for long enough to fool anyone
