IMHO, this was the best incarnation of the Joe Jackson Band - energy, power, groove, simplicity. Fabulous.

I saw them at Leeds Uni late on in 1979. They were incredible. So, so tight. Saw them a few times after ( and Joe seperately) last time at the Marquee in Islington in 2002 , i think. That was an amazing gig too ! Maby was the lead instrument : )

Look Sharp, one of the best albums of the decade. Wall to wall hits. Sharon Reesburg said he was a dick at the Stone Pony but they did kill it that night if only for a few people.

Thanks for uploading this session. WOW! forgot how amazing these songs are. The playing is first class and as tight as a camels arse in a sand storm. Atomic Power Pop. The music that came out of the late 70s and early 80s is so real and unique sounding unlike todays bands who sound good only by using studio trickery.

Most of the younger generation has never heard of JJ. The only song I ever hear on the radio is Steppin' Out" which isn't representative of his early stuff. When I play his early stuff, most wonder why is he so unknown today.
@racketman2u

if you are saying that Stepping Out isn't as good as his "early stuff" you won't have much company ; and he has a bigger range of styles than just about any other musician.

I think Steppin Out is a great song, nothing like the early days, but it's a good tune considering it's his "hit" and was after some forgettable moments following the Look Sharp days. He went in some places I wasn't into in between, so I'm sticking up for the hit. Opening track being so great set the bat fr a classic album. Great shoes, Joe. Sharp (sharp)

Huh? Ive never complained about such trivial music nerd stuff after such a killer live performance. This, imo, is the JJ apex...band was able to "dumb it down" and let loose some top shelf punk/power pop. It didn't last...sometimes less really is more.
