Joe Longthorne was a person of great talent and a true star. I myself am from a Romany traveling background and I personally think Joe made our people extremely proud. A legend of our heritage and he was a wonderful person who was kind and generous to all. It couldn't of been easy for Joe to achieve what he did, sadly there are many that are prejudice to the Romany community and sadly to people that are of the LGBTQ community also. I personally have seen the great hardship of LGBTQ people within the Romany traveling community due to prejudice from our own people. Joe was an amazing person with amazing talent who helped break down barriers for the Romany traveling community and the LGBTQ community alike. I didn't realise that he passed away on the 3rd of August, my own father died on the 3rd of August in 2012, he was himself a fantastic singer and was a great fan of Joe. I hope they have met up in heaven and had a sing song together, I'm sure they would get along amazingly well. God bless Joe and thanks for all the hours of enjoyable entertainment you gave to us all. Say hello to my darling mum and dad my lovely and continue your amazing talent in heaven. Love always ❤xx

I am really pleased that people specify burial ,both my wife I have, just to keep a green open space in this crowded island. Joe , being a Roman Catholic, would be in a separate section of the Cemetery and RCs usually specify burial. Very sensible. He worked for years with nasty illness amazing how he carried on.

I saw Joe many years ago when he appeared at Butlins holiday camp in Minehead. He was singing “Delilah” as Tom Jones. He looked down to me and stopped to ask me my name. He then continued singing but instead of “Why Why Why Delilah” he changed it to “Why, Why Why Sharon” I was only 16 and so embarrassed. Means a lot now over 55 years later. Xxx

Joe was a relation on my mother's side. He was from Hull.Hessle road gave access to the docks and was then a huge fishing industry, my dad worked on the trawlers.Hessle road is one of the main veins in Hull, people who live in Hull they work hard and make things that last for ever. Joe worked hard giving of himself I didn't know he was that young though x

The first time I heard Joe Longthorne, he was playing in Paignton in Devon, my late husband and I were taking out 3 children out for a walk along the beach, when we got to the theatre we could hear the show, so we sat on the steps outside and listened for a while. My husband went in the next morning and bought tickets for the following evening in Torquay. We say him several times after that and he never disappointed. I still have my late husband’s video, c.d. And dvd collection. Loved him.

I first saw Joe at the Savaas Club in Usk, must have been mid 80s. It was an old fashioned set up, we dined at a candlelit table by the stage and then watched the show. I had a kiss on the cheek from him at the end, gosh I must have been about 19, so long ago ! Then saw him in St Davids Hall in Cardiff in the 90s, he was truly a world class act. Superb voice and fabulous entertainer. Thanks for the video ! RIP Joe, you were amazing x

Joe longthorne was such a fun , caring and humble man , along with his inspirational talent . He would arrive at venues full of energy for each performance, when he was unwell he would step on stage, something wonderful & magical would happen, you would feel the love for him & from him in every part of each venue he played. His army of fans he would fondly call friends , he would never forget a face . Joe was always amazed by the loyalty, support & love we gave him whole heartedly. A beautiful soul taken far too soon ! God bless you Joe , memories live longer than dreams for sure ! He will always be my music 🎶 that's what friends are for 🎶 . Thankyou for making this video 👍 stay safe ...
