Was walking alone at 5 am in Barcelona and I spotted 3 "bad guys" on the opposite side of the street. I just talked crazy loudly cussing up a storm and they stayed far away. Walking is no problem in Madrid at that hour, but in Barcelona, it's best to take a taxi. LOL

The thing is, as David pointed out, if you shout, 'Brian', your potential mugger can't possibly know if that's a dog. They're more likely to think it's your potentially dangerous friend/relative/inattentive bodyguard. Though if the mugger queries how you're spelling Bryan then it suggests the ruse has failed. Or your attacker is thinking he's getting a MOGOF.

One time I was walking through Feegie Park in Paisley Scotland - not something I would recommend for u to do Joel Lycett - for eg as a teenager my friends & I would drink up the second shelter in Duggie Park with our fellow Bucky drinking hoodlums - thank you holy Buckfast Abbey for turning oor watter into wine & providing us with the ability tae git mad wae it furr a fiver oan a bottle eh number 28 which was a shiter if I remember rightly - the lower the number on the Bucky batch the better from memory if I remember correctly? - new additions to the group would stoat up the park / swagger / stagger & would be sussed oot by cries from the twins “Hawl, NAME & NUMBER?” upon their arrival to make sure undercover 5/oh polis were no oan their way to spoil oor fun & they would be greeted by a friendly chorus of oor local greeting tune “We’re fae feegie! There’s nothing u can do! We’re fae feegie & we’ll stab you!” 😂 I know your name is apparently Joe Lycett, but in the alternative reality I am from Bernstein Bears your name is Joel! I once was on my way to visit a local horticulturist/ gardener in Ferguslie Park & was followed by the cops & shat a wee jobby brick in my panties & my immediate reaction was to pretend to walk my imaginary wee dug wee Jimmy choo shoes - needless to say this ridiculous mime performance deterred the nosy parkers & they thought “Ach, just another local wallapper, a normal Friday night for us lads & they after following me & wee Jimmy on his lead for a good wee while made sure I got home safely to enjoy my freshly picked flowers safely without getting a stabbing for being from the next toon. Cheers chief Wigam & the quality polis. Aye wee Ricky pal - God works in mysterious ways - duggy mc chuggy - paws & a wee waggy his tail & aff we went skipping tae the loo, wooptee doo Scooby doobily dooby doo! 😂
