When I was a little kid, Joe Montana was out with an injury and my grandma helped me write him a get well card. Joe actually wrote back a thank you note, and I ran around the house in excitement when I got it. There have always been a few class acts in football, but I have always known that Joe was one.

If Joe Montana played in the era where you couldn't even touch quarterbacks you would have 12 championships. You can literally look at film of him getting pile driven into the turf by various defenders like LT or anybody really

My father met Joe Montana while skiing in California and it was after he retired. This was in the late 90s. I wasn’t born yet but he met him and his wife while skiing and my older brother and sister met him as well. I thought that was pretty cool. For as much as we look at these people as super heroes, at the end of the day they really are just regular people like you and me.

I wanna say "THANK YOU, JOE MONTANA"... for two reasons 1. Shooting down the stupid and ridiculous theory that Steve Young threw up 🤮 2. For saying what no TV analyst won't say (and/or the guts to admit) A Quarterback whose predominant runner will never win a championship with that style of play. Consistent pocket passing, with the ability to move/scramble when necessary, is how an NFL QB wins Super Bowl rings...that will never change no matter the era

The only reason Tom Brady ranks higher is because of Super Bowl wins. Joe retired around 37/38. Montana said that if he could have foreseen what Brady was going to do he would have played a few more years. Maybe Montana could have wound up with 5 or 6 Super Bowls. If you're just going on poise, pocket presence and winning either way Montana and Brady stand alone. If you want to factor in movement Montana has the edge.

I got into a discussion with a bunch of "sports" guys about football and they were talking about Brady and Rogers and one was talking about Marino being the best. I kept mentioning Joe and reminding them how great he was. Finally asked them all a question so solve this. 'if you had to win one game and your life was literally on the line, who would you trust your life with?" I'll never forget one of them said to me "that's not the point". Brady might have 7 but for my money I would put it on Joe.

@@caseystark6277Name a great (or even a really good) quarterback who played in the AFC East during Brady's entire tenure with New England. No, it's not impressive they made the playoffs that often in that joke of a division. And to answer the question posed by the original commenter: it's Montana.
@drexlspivey30479 ай бұрын
@@Vic-VegaI really don't think it's about that. It's the fact that brady played most of his career protected by the league and officials. Joe played when pretty much anything goes. Hits to the head and jaw. Being pile drived into the ground etc. I didn't see all of Joe's career but saw enough to know he was just as clutch as Tom. Plus brady won a few SBs because of their defense. Joe threw 11 tds and ZERO picks in those wins. He was great in all 4.

"No continuity to the 49ers decision-making process at quarterback," Nick?? They needed a franchise QB, made a big gamble for one at the front of the draft, and lucked into one at the back of the draft. They waited for Purdy to recover from his injury and gave Trey a chance to redeem himself in the preseason, and he couldn't beat out Sam friggin' Darnold. I honestly would have held onto him (or, better yet, asked for Cooper Rush in return in the trade) for depth at the position, but I don't understand this (media-driven) narrative that San Francisco has handled this situation exceedingly poorly or inconsistently. They viewed Lance as a sunk cost, and a potential locker room issue, so they just moved on. The end. What's the problem here, exactly?
