To say the show 'was his' is to say it was created for him imo. Which, it wasn't. Second host, and only for two years. It’s crazy to know I was alive during this interview. A kid, around 7 years old, playing with my toys in a corner of a living room. In my pajamas. It’s 7:00pm and it’s a Friday night so I don’t have school. Briefly looking up and seeing my parents watching television and for a moment looking at the TV myself, seeing this random person my mom referred to as an actor named “Joe Pesci” and this other guy talking about things I know nothing about. “What’s a casino?” “What’s a cigar?” “What is goodfellas?” “He said something about kicking a dog. Why would he do that?” Then going back to playing with my toys. Times were much simpler. Glad I got to live through them.

This is the first time ive ever seen any clip from Kinnears “Later” show. I remember Howard Stern back in the mid 90s saying who wants to watch that show to see Kinnear doing a Letterman impression... i see what he meant--so obvious hes trying to imitate Letterman!
@flippalovell3 жыл бұрын
As an Australian I’ve never understood American’s love for Letterman. I feel like he doesn’t really have a style to imitate. He’s so dull, even when he was young he was like a boring old man without much insight or anything interesting or funny to say. I just don’t get it.

Pesci's character was based on Tommy Desimone who was a much larger man in physical stature but Pesci's performance is so big it doesn't matter. There are times in Goodfellas when Pesci threatens to take over the movie and when you are working beside the likes of Robert Deniro that is truly saying something.
