This is still one of the best arguments in a film that I’ve seen. I love how they talk over each other and trip over their words. It adds the feeling that an organic argument typically has. This feels like a very natural breakdown between two old friends.
@cennon Жыл бұрын
The way they were interrupting each other felt totally natural. That's gotta be hard for most actors to do.

It's because it wasn't scripted, they were just given the topics to go over, the key points to make and then told to just go at each other. So it feels natural because it is.

I show this clip to people to explain how a sociopath thinks. He literally would rather maim this civilian stockbroker and go to prison for it than accept the private insult of (as he sees it) being scammed out of money by a weaker operator. He doesn't understand how the civilian world works and he doesn't really care at all, nor does he fear any punishment the civilian world can give him. Going some sort of non-violent route would be easier, safer and actually save him a lot of money in the long run... but he's a violent sociopath. If you scam him, he physically harms you until you satisfy him. That's "what it is he does". The fact that he gleefully explains it to the stockbroker is why it's fascinating. He has insight into his nature.

1:04 Best part about this clip is just how loud Charlie's breathing gets as he gets more and more scared of the mobster threatening him. In my humble opinion the 2:30ish mark on, Joe Pesci writes the book on acting. His voice changing, facial ticks, half sentences/ start and stops, etc etc etc It takes a hell of an actor to make you overlook a phenomenal scene by Robert D.

I've watched this movie so many times, I practically know all the dialog, word-for-word 👌. Here's the funny thing: (Ever been so mad at someone, that you make an out-of-body ludicrous idle threat?) Here's what happened. Someone made me so mad a few years ago, that I made a stupidly ridiculous threat, about taking a walk down their place one morning and cracking their f*ckin head wide open, in front of everyone, and that I wasn't afraid to go back to jail! 😳. I literally had this scene on my mind, but I altered the dialog slightly, just in case they were a fan of the movie 😂. Now, I'm not a violent person and wouldn't get in a fight, nor would I ever do anything like that in a million years, but I was so convincing, that I saw the fear in the eyes of the guy i threatened (he deserved it)....so much so, that he apologised and begged me to forgive him 😂. Which I did.... As i walked away, my back turned towards him, I thought to myself: "What are you talking about you MORON, you've NEVER been to jail" 😂😂😂
