This is still one of the best arguments in a film that I’ve seen. I love how they talk over each other and trip over their words. It adds the feeling that an organic argument typically has. This feels like a very natural breakdown between two old friends.
@cennon
@cennon Жыл бұрын
The way they were interrupting each other felt totally natural. That's gotta be hard for most actors to do.
@erikjohnson5549
@erikjohnson5549 Жыл бұрын
It's because it wasn't scripted, they were just given the topics to go over, the key points to make and then told to just go at each other. So it feels natural because it is.

A lot of their dialogue is actually ad-libbed. Scorsese tells Pesci and Deniro what needs to happen in the scene, and they make up the dialogue as they go along. That's what makes Pesci insulting how Deniro dresses so funny.

@@Kelly14UK Man casino is incredible. The thing that ruins the movie for me is DeNiro's and his wife's story. It's unbearable and it's a major part of the movie. I wish the movie focused more on the casino/gangster part of the story.

I show this clip to people to explain how a sociopath thinks. He literally would rather maim this civilian stockbroker and go to prison for it than accept the private insult of (as he sees it) being scammed out of money by a weaker operator. He doesn't understand how the civilian world works and he doesn't really care at all, nor does he fear any punishment the civilian world can give him. Going some sort of non-violent route would be easier, safer and actually save him a lot of money in the long run... but he's a violent sociopath. If you scam him, he physically harms you until you satisfy him. That's "what it is he does". The fact that he gleefully explains it to the stockbroker is why it's fascinating. He has insight into his nature.

Well funny enough Nicky was actually being completely reasonable here first by calling Mr. Clark then approaching him reasonably here and asking him why didn’t he return his phone calls. Mr. Clark definitely was playing with fire here and should’ve just gave him his money back

The bit about how he'd legitimately go to prison for assault rather than accept the insult of not getting his money back is pure sociopath. He even calmly explains it. That's who he is, and that's what he does, and he's literally not afraid of anything, so it's better to simply obey him rather than try to outmaneuver him. Short of death, he's going to keep doing the same thing.

I've watched this movie so many times, I practically know all the dialog, word-for-word 👌. Here's the funny thing: (Ever been so mad at someone, that you make an out-of-body ludicrous idle threat?) Here's what happened. Someone made me so mad a few years ago, that I made a stupidly ridiculous threat, about taking a walk down their place one morning and cracking their f*ckin head wide open, in front of everyone, and that I wasn't afraid to go back to jail! 😳. I literally had this scene on my mind, but I altered the dialog slightly, just in case they were a fan of the movie 😂. Now, I'm not a violent person and wouldn't get in a fight, nor would I ever do anything like that in a million years, but I was so convincing, that I saw the fear in the eyes of the guy i threatened (he deserved it)....so much so, that he apologised and begged me to forgive him 😂. Which I did.... As i walked away, my back turned towards him, I thought to myself: "What are you talking about you MORON, you've NEVER been to jail" 😂😂😂

Pesci's a comedian before all else. Same with Frank Vincent, Mr. Shinebox himself. He and Pesci started off as a comedy duo in the '70s.

Love it when Pesci says to the banker... "you can try me fatso" and then he says to Deniro "you think he got the point"? I was in hysterics 😂🤣

I know the whole scene by heart and have for years. The part I like is after the banker goes down the stairs, Pesci turns around, touches his belt line, and seriously asks Ace "You think he got the point?" - LOL. Yeah, I think he did lol. "You go get my money or I'll put your fucking brain to sleep" definitely helped deliver the point clearly.
