I don't think the media should be blamed for anything dumb the guest says on air- like you said, thats on them- but I do think the media should be blamed for the part they play in negatively influencing the youth by giving these artists a platform in general. The fact that these guys get so successful makes people want to be like them, especially aspiring artists. It's not like 1 rappers lyrics is going to turn some guy into a killer but it isn't just 1 artist, it's at least a couple hundred relatively successful rappers promoting this kind of ideology. Everyone's welcome to opinion, but I personally do believe art influences. Listening to murder music doesn't mean you'll be a murderer but it normalizes the subject in your mind. And if you like the songs, then subconsciously, at least, in some form, you are going to associate positive feelings with that topic. I play that music from time to time, and i enjoy it. It is what it is. But just giving my thoughts. I personally feel the media has blood on their hands too

My humble opinion..art reflects life...wanting the art without the action doesn't work It'll only continue to be a sick cycle. If we could change our taste and consume better art we can begin to heal and create a better reality but again that's just my humble opinion. Becoming more creative in how we kill people in songs is the same as saying we need to become more creative in how we kill people in reality. The influence is too intoxicating to think that we could handle consuming this form of art without negative consequences. Accepting this as entertainment is acceptance of the decline of a lot would be strong good people.
