The 30 million is just a rumour and it probably started because back in 2021 Dana said that's what Jones was after if he had to fight Francis , Jon said it was a lie at the time . But I do believe he probably wants something like 30 million and possibly more for the Aspinall fight , his contract is irrelevant if Jon is willing to retire or just vacate the title rather than risk wrecking his record late in his career which is the main reason he doesn't want to fight Aspinall , and it was also the main reason he wanted more for the Francis fight , he'll only take on fights he sees as particularly risky if he's compensated to the point that he's a winner even if he loses the fight

Bear in mind that the highest ever fight fee recalibrates expectations throughout the roster. If Jon Jones gets anywhere close to $30m, every fighter's manager in the game is going to be adding a zero to their demand. Dana wasn't afraid to let Francis walk away from both a JJ fight and the UFC for a fraction of this amount. I was surprised Dana said the Jones v Aspinall fight is 100% happening when - seemingly - contracts hadn't been signed. I'm dubious this fight will ever happen.

What you and many MMA/UFC outlets fail to do is share what these fighters make, how the pay is structured etc. for example show/win, PPV shares etc with actual fighters names and the estimated amounts they make based upon your expertise. Including fighters at all levels.
