I'm just listening to this, it's 2020! My wife and I and some friends were discussing tithing last night. There was a time we gave 10% of our weekly income to the church. In the midst of that, we got into difficult times and sought help from our church but were turned away with the excuse that "we can't give money to everyone who comes to us for help." At that time we decided we would save and give away 10% of our income to those in need whose paths we crossed. This shift in giving changed our feeling of satisfaction drastically. We got to see immediate response.

Wow there's actually a ton of valuable wisdom in this episode, ways that we REALLY need to honestly re-evaluate ourselves as creators of our society and communities and firstly as creators of our own individual selves. We DO have control over the way we react and think, and how that bleeds off into everyone we know and everything that comes back to us in life. Tend to that garden!!

Joe "I played Quake" Rogan
@Sound8VisionVibe6 жыл бұрын
But is he cool for spending incredible amounts of money (thousands) on T1 or T3 (can’t remember) internet JUST to play Quake online within lag? Money that could have been used to help those less fortunate between Quake binges on above average internet connections?
@Sound8VisionVibe6 жыл бұрын
If he’s gonna spend those amounts on an INTERNET CONNECTION FOR QUAKE (let me reiterate) then at least half of what he spent on the connection, but if i’m being real I think he should, hypothetically, switch it around and match half of what he donated on the connection. But thats just me, maybe i’m a complete dumbass. God knows I love the internet, but it’s a bit excessive, then again it’s his money, and it’s my right to express my opinion.
@lightbulbsocket6 жыл бұрын
Sound8Vision How do you know he didn't? For all you know he may have donated many times more than that in charitable contributions. Maybe he feels like it's a bad look to come out and say "I played quake but I spent this much more on charities than I did on quake". What need for that is there outside of some pointless virtue signaling?
@Sound8VisionVibe6 жыл бұрын
You may very well be right, he may, and I plan on researching to find out when I get a moment, but I honestly cannot see how it would make him look bad if he said something like “I spent all of this crazy cash on internet connections, and I know thats way too much, but I was donating to a lot of charities at the time, so I feel like it kind of offset it.” He didn’t though, and he seemed very proud about it, although he did show realization of it being a waste of resources, if I remember correctly. Let’s keep in mind that he also once, as stated above, spouted the pointless virtue of “tipping $100 for a $2 cup of coffee.” Not much difference in my opinion. Don’t take it to heart too much though, i’m just enjoying conversation.
@lightbulbsocket6 жыл бұрын
Sound8Vision I think it's fair to say that's a different scenario. The person he tipped almost definitely told all his friends about the time Joe Rogan tipped him a hundo. A charity would be far more likely to maintain the anonymity of their donors I would think. Could be wrong though. Also, haven't actually heard the part of their conversation where this comes up yet. So maybe that would change my mind.
