@@temsedgwick9494 she suddenly went quiet, stopped eating and sunk the the bottom of the pond with lethargy. At egg laying season she only laid one egg but she’s never laid overly many so I didn’t think think much of it. But when she stopped eating and went lethargic I took her to my exotic vet who gave her a scan and found her stomach so full of trapped eggs that it was crushing her vital organs. Choice was euthanasia or attempt surgery with not a lot of hope because the sheer amount of eggs. So we tried surgery at a specialist. On the underside of the shell they cut out a square flap of shell so they can access the abdomen. Then they start removing the eggs one by one. When they are finished the wound is sealed and the shell flap is placed back into the hole and sealed with a water tight sealant. This gives time for the new shell to start growing and keeping deadly bacteria out at the same time. As terrapins/turtles are underwater she had to be dry docked for weeks to help stop bacteria getting in and we had to spray her multiple times a day to stop her dehydrating. She also had to have oral meds which is not fun to give a stubborn turtle! Also as turtles only eat under water she did have to be taken back to the specialist twice a week for tube feeds! I think there’s a video of the vet who did her surgery on Instagram under the name @markrowlandvet. In America apparently there’s a pioneering surgery now that doesn’t cut the shell but instead goes in behind the skin on the front leg? But I’m not too sure on this method

I'm pretty sure he's wrong as well. Given an infinite timespan, it's possible that occurences will never happen or will never happen again. It's possible that you could throw a basketball at a hoop and literally never get it in. In terms of randomness, it's possible that a computer could randomly select numbers from 1-100 infinitely, and never select 28. It's not something that can be measured with probability either. Randomness is random, infinity is infinite. The absoluteness of those concepts means that scale and probability have no bearing. Might be wrong, feel free to ackhually me if you're a mathematician.

Within the concept of infinity (which our brains do not like), given an infinite amount of time anything that could happen will happen eventually, maybe only once but yeah. The randomness and chaos of the universe is unquantifiable, so I would say there could be no absolute answer in such thought experiments. Mainly because the rules are defined by us, changing the rules or rather the concept of such a thought removes any point to reach any meaninful conclusion, might be talking shite here twice, but I gave ere a go and I won't be coming back.

@@MrLOLsteveLOL yeah I agree it's just intellectual masturbation really, but it's funny when people are smug and angry in their assumptions which aren't actually correct. The thing about an infinite number of monkeys (or a single monkey given infinite attempts) being guaranteed to type out the works of Shakespeare is mistaken, there will be infinite chances, but infinite chances doesn't guarantee any particular outcome (and it certainly doesn't [can't] guarantee all outcomes), for example with a single monkey given infinite attempts, the monkey could type the letter 'd' on each attempt, forever.
