@@MandalorianMedic I completely agree about Christopher. Hitchens could debate and back up his views on any Topic even though his support for the Iraq war was the most heavily questioned issue for him. Murray however debates from a point of stubbornness failing to address the imbalance in deaths currently happening in Gaza and Palestine as a whole. Christopher would have had a nuanced debate about this current crisis and would never defend a position he knew was wrong. Murray will quote his potted history of the State of Israel by cherry-picking bits and pieces with zero reference to the Palestinian position. He invokes arguments easily destroyed by anyone fully understanding the history of the area. He completely ignores the fact that it was a stated aim of Zionists back in 1948 to rid the territory of Palestinians - from the river to the sea, these are matters of documented history. Hitch could seem arrogant, but only when he was speaking the truth, Murray is arrogant whilst telling lies or at the very least, lies by omission. Even though Christopher argued that Islam was a death cult, he never lost sight of the injustices perpetrated by Israel on Palestine and he would have been extremely vocal in his condemnation of the Zionist cause at this moment in history. 2 very different characters.

I'll repeat... We've been slaves for 500 years to the Ottoman empire, which is more than the entire 246 of American history. We don't sit around nowadays feeling sorry for ourselves, being victims to the past, we can't change. We just get on with our lives, appreciating the opportunities, we've got in the present and thinking about our future. And we love to go on holidays in Turkey, we love the culture, their food and we're good neighbouring counties. Just stop playing victims, and get on with your lives. Mr. Murray feels like a breeze of fresh air. He has a good way with words, he is polite (unless someone is rude towards him) and he knows what he is tolkning about. I have not heard every debate he has been apart of and I am certain a disagree with him on several points but I really enjoy listening to him so far.

@@JohnHerzfeld-on3og Let's see him actually debate REAL public intellectual. He's a lord farquaadesque steven crowder type, who likes to sit on his imaginary thrown and cast hate at vulnerable people. Criticizes woke but loves a bit of gay marriage for himself. He lies about Palestine/Israel nonstop and is platformed on Murdochs sky news regularly, which says it all really.

I watch documentaries with my daughter on WW2, documentaries on Hitler & now we are leaning about Stalin. My daughter's reaction was "We don't learn any of this in school". My daughter loves watching Ben Shapiro as well! Also we talk about slavery around the world not just in America. She is now going in to grade 4. I do not trust the school system.

Yeah i am from the Netherlands and we were a great contributor to slavetrade and i am in no way telling slavetrade isn´t bad, but what people don´t tell who really controlled this trade were these were african sellers off the coast who sold those people, the ships didn´t go in africa capturing black people. And people forget when they bought a slave it was already an investment they were paid for so they were treated as so, when making they voyage to america. More so than white sailors because when they died they didn't have to pay them anymore but get my drift there were more deads among whites then blacks on these ships so when looking at a film like amistad it isn't really black and white. People need to understand its not that simple. And i can tell you a lot more lets say an african tribe plundered and ransacked a village, what to do with the people of the village it would be killing all the men because taking them capture needs feeding them and children could go grow up to take revenge, the woman who might be weaker would be raped and enslaved or also killed but now they could sell them and be rid of them. Offcourse this option spiked the ransacking and plundering by these africans. But these are subjects not really taught at schools but it is all documented pretty well. People should also teach about the abolishment of child labour in our countries which came even after the abolishment of slavery in my country just to put history in perspective. If we talk about 200 years ago do you understand that people were decapitated, hanged or whatever on village squares and it would be a family thing just like going to the carnaval. The thing is if we talk about history maybe really understand history and what motivated people and learn from it. You can't talk about same rights if you don;t even understand were these rights came from they didn't just poofed up. The same with looking at other countries and your own when you are saying banning tiktok etc.. is against China why not adress the banning of google, youtube etc.. and even Tiktok in China. What is diversity when we should be standing for unity amongst eachother.
