Graham also pointed out how the archeological community (and this smoothly translates to science communities at large) stifled and stomped out any opposition to their maintained views, ignoring evidence from their fellow members who were later proven right. Your assertion that Milo's political and ideological inserts are somehow imperative to understanding the evidence he presents is stupid, most of the people who believe in conspiratorial things tend to be conservative who tend to be under-educated, giving people like Milo an avenue to preen about the "hateful", "ignorant", "bigoted" people who believe in conspiracies while flaunting their academic credentials to assert their credibility. Using those very credentials to signal boost their unrelated ideological and political stances, Its been done in studies focused on subjects as varied as immigration, diversity, gender equality and multiculturalism, using colorful headlines and newspaper bylines to obscure and misdirect only to highlight the author's or publishers favored ideological and/or political viewpoint. This is an old video but I'd love to get some actual responses. I used to subscribe to Hancock's theories of an ancient lost civilization, and it was incredibly interesting to think about. The problem for me has been the lack of evidence. Him citing archeologists not surveying enough is ridiculous. He argues for a GLOBE spanning civilization. The evidence for it wouldn't be an outlier, it would be the norm. Hunter gatherers from 3,000 years after this civilization's collapse would be the outliers, as they would all have been introduced to the massively increased food yields of agriculture, and yet they would have all rejected it, only to systematically reinvent it a few thousand years later. I'm sincerely confused by how this train of thought makes sense to people, but please, I genuinelly would like to discuss it with someone.
@ChickenNugNugz24 күн бұрын
This is the problem with people like Hancock and the others Rogan indulges in his parade of right wing weirdos, conspiracy nonsense and broad misinformation (like the ivermectin stuff). They don't actually have a set of beliefs or deeply held rational arguments. It all comes back to an argument that science and society are evil, are hiding fundamental truths from the public and that the only way to gain these truths is through giving them money, buying their dodgy books and sewing enough doubt that if any of their claims makes you question what they're saying that you won't trust the actual evidence or experts when fact checking them.
@ChickenNugNugz24 күн бұрын
There is a reason why these communities and people who fall into this stuff are also far more likely to be political conservatives at best but more generally into the fascist and n@zi movements like qanon, maga etc. These worldviews are fundamentally incoherent and are not based on evidence, reason or thought out arguments. In order to be far right politically you have to have a rejection of and distrust in reality, objective facts/evidence science, scientists and academia as a whole, this is why you get the abroad attacks on academia as "elites" and "cultural Marxists" (which is literally just Jewish bolshevism in the 21st century ). When you understand this, people like Hancock and others become much easier to understand. It's not about "being right" or "disproving" scientific principles but it's about a wider mission of sewing distrust in the wider population, making you question basic normal reality, training people to hold simultaneously incoherent ideas and rejecting the modern frame we see the world through. The original n@zis were like this too. They campaigned against "Jewish science". They hated science so much they even rejected scientific racism that the rest of the world was using as an excuse for white Supremacism. They rejected science and said it was spiritually true, not scientifically true. They thought the world was flat and hollow and there were literally giant ice walls surrounding the flat earth. This doesn't mean they thought it literally true, although many did, but it was more about the rejection of reality that you still see in their successor movements, such as Reform UK, AFD, and MAGA

Also, if these ancients humans knew what agriculture was (btw what were they farming? Domestication of crops was still in its infancy) why wouldn't they just show other humans what it is, rather than alluding to it?
