The reason the swastika is so widely dispersed and appears in such diverse cultural contexts is that it is one of the simplest shapes a human can draw. It is very easily invented independently. It was formerly used as a means to trace migrations of people, such as the Aryans, but this does NOT work. For example both the pre-Aryan IVC culture of India, and the Central Asian Aryans of the Andronovo culture had the symbol before they met each other. The Proto-Indo-Europeans did not even use the symbol! The symbol also has different meanings in different contexts. In Hindu contexts it is a good luck charm and represents the sun. In Ancient Greece it was a decoration. In Germanic cultures, it was a symbol of Odin. Trying to make a theory of everything for the swastika is like making a theory of everything for the square or the circle.
@jackm304020 күн бұрын
Plus laying out rectangular tiles will. result in a natural swastika pattern being found. So digging up a swastika pattern is as profound as finding rectangular tiles.He shows a geometric doodle border originally from Crete but found throughout the Med. The border pattern he shows is used in Crete interchangeably with a less stylized wave pattern border. So the pattern he shows outside the Parthenon is likely a stylized depiction of waves also found in Crete.

I had a strange job at a fairly known University. I had to convert via scanner old research papers into digital copies. Most were from the 70s. I saw quite a few "We are heading into an ice age" scientific papers. I always wondered if I was really destroying the papers or if they actually preserved the digital copies. No one ever checked on my work or seemed to care if the printer ate and ruined a document. Never saw the finished product of where the digital copies went.

I corrected my 7th grade math teacher on the proper use of division. I ended up in the principles office when they called my dad (a cs major and math minor) and he was told the situation, took the problem, solved it in front of the teacher to the same answer I was trying to speak up for in class. This isn't even a changing topic, this is developed math that has been studied for centuries and she just thought that she knew best. It was one of my worst experiences in school regarding a teacher thinking they were correct.

1:23:55 it is stated that Islamic believers wouldn't want to corroborate the Noah flood story from the Old Testament because it would confirm Christian ideas. As far as I'm aware, the Old Testament is Judaic in origin, not Christian and Islam is also an Abrahamic religion based on the same stories and would therefore welcome the finding of Noah's alter.

You're technically right. Noah is called 'Nuh' in the Quran. The Prophet (PBUH) stated that Nuh was a Muslim. HOWEVER, the pillars at Gobekli Tepe are COVERED in carvings that obviously depict humans and animals. In Sharia, such things are universally recognized as being (possible) "IDOLS". Such carvings--including cave art in the Sahara--have been DEFACED all over the Dar-al-Islam, in accordance with Sharia law. Thus, "Nuh" would have NEVER built such an ALTAR (not "alter"). Thus, Gobekli Tepe is (potentially) wide open for vandalism. Veneration by Muslims is out of the question.

It was interesting but it starts off dishonestly. They are amazed that it's 23 feet off of the ground, but we know Romans and many other cultures would surround building sites with compacted earth and gravel to move massive stones. At the Siege of Masada they build an earthen ramp of gravel and dirt up the entire side of a mountain. Romans had steel by the second century when they were in baalbek. Romans had iron before that and had access through trade before the second century to some steel from India. These guys are dishonest. Again, Romans absolutely had the ability to move these large stones using earthen/gravel ramps and steel tools and dragging methods.

I asked her about the pyramids and she told me they were quite boring and she was more focused on the new excavations. We were having very pleasant conversation so I decided to ask her opinion about Graham Hancock, "DONT YOU DARE BRING UP HIS NAME AROUND ME" She yelled!! In my face! She was furious, face red and veins popping. I was shocked and a bit whiplashed. I apologised and moved away from her. My first interaction with an archaeologist was quite interesting.😅
