I love Honnold's takes on indigenous people that live in less developed parts of the world. Rogan saying they don't want shoes or TV comes across as confidently out of touch. Honnold has been to these places, often for climbing expeditions, so he knows how they actually feel about their lack of access to modern amenities. Ya'll should go listen to Honnold's podcast, it's tremendous.

I also have a daughter and she started climbing when she was 3. I also believe that Alex is a super nice and honest guy. Having that said, I will never recommend watching him to my daughter as I don’t want to have her being influenced by a guy with such a big free solo history. As a climber myself I truly hate this idea and I want to keep her away from influencers who promote that.

His modesty makes him crazy likeable and if I could explain in words why you just seem to feel better when you watch him, I’d definitely chose those words. And how’s Joe, there’s no end to his amazingness, I wouldn’t know where to start with him, but I reckon high up in the list of his supers powers is his ability to listen. He’s totally in the moment most the time, and Alex is someone who can absolutely be the moment. I’ll be watching this one a few times. Thanks so much for this! And all the other interviews too.

This is leading up to the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. Climbing was sort of a disaster with the combined format. Should be much better this year at Paris 2024. They still have to do combined Boulder and Lead, but at least they separated out the Speed climbers. This has solved one of the biggest problems with the format.
