How deeply admire his work and am truly grateful for the artistic displays he's put on TV but I truly found his stories absolutely abhorrent and lacking in humor and pace. It felt like he put too much emphasis on his importance in the story and not enough emphasis on whether or not the story is good period his jokes were horrible and he's got a relatively big head about his acting life. I'm not being hypocritical it's just how I perceived him. Still a pretty good listen and I love everything he's in

Unlike others who use these kind of interviews as marketing potential, hoping to score another big role, Crowe (a Kiwi) is very laid back, not fussed either way, if it happens it happens, his enjoyed what his done, what he has, just enjoying life. Aussies Paul Hogan, Eric Bana, Guy Pearce, Sam Worthington, are similar interviews, if Rogan ever gets them. Heath Ledger would have been a good one, RIP. Others like Hemsworth, Jackman, Robbie, get awkward talking about themselves, ham it up too much to compensate.

I was the 12 year old kids who would journey to the cinema cause it was the place to be. Anytime I bought some bland ass pg whatever would be playing same time and sneak into pg-13 and would be little youngster. Quiet, no kidding around. By myself. My escapes from a lame bland reality. To the cinema. "What we do in life. Echoes into eternity." And bought every word and performance this man in his prime brought that fire. Where I went to a fantasy realm time machine. Back when that was a unique thing to watch and be entertained..it cannot be topped nor followed. I said what I said.

When I was 15, just after Gladiator had come out, I went on a school ski trip. All us teenage boys were still exhilarated about the film and it was all we could talk about. You can imagine, then, our sheer excitement to discover that our ski instructor looked like a spitting image of Russell Crowe. No-one told him though and soon we were giggling more and more each time he directed us, imagining him as the Spaniard leading us into battle. One day, as we stood at the top of the mountain preparing to go down but also struggling to concentrate on his actual instructions, he turned around, face stern, and scanned his crowd, meeting our eyes one by one. There was a pause, then he began. “My name is Maximus Meridius Decimus. Commander of the armies of the north…” He did the whole speech in what was nothing short of a perfect impression, voice and all. And just like that, our voices deepened and our balls collectively dropped. In under a minute, we had become men. I’ll never forget that moment.

He is so down to earth but also so complex and intelligent. I love Russell Crowe, one of my favourite actors.

Russell’s performance in the movie “unhinged” was so good because I could never picture him as a villain especially because of the gladiator. That’s how you know he’s good at his craft.

I met Russell in Sydney on set of a TV series called Police Rescue in 1992. My first day on any set and as a Kiwi, the 2nd AD told me Russell was also a Kiwi, so I bowled up and had a chat with him. During filming of a tense scene I laughed as a fellow extra cracked a joke under his breath - "Cut! Cut! Cut!, the kid in the blue hat laughed"....I wanted the world to open up and engulf me...Russell came up later and couldn't stop laughing. Said it was the funniest thing he had seen for a long time! Our acting careers have diverged ever since! 🙂 Enjoyed this chat with Joe. Russell is a cool guy.

Russells Crowes memory of things is incredible. I hope he writes a biography on his life one day.

Hearing Russell Crowe talk about the best way to cook a steak isn’t something I realized I needed in my life. This is why podcasts is leagues better than quick Hollywood interviews. Now we need a 3 hour Denzel episode

Understanding Russell is a Kiwi, he tells a yarn just like an Aussie. After just watching Mel’s interview yesterday, I honestly feel that Australians can articulate a discussion in this kind of format so well, when they have kept their down to earth characteristics. Just brilliant moments being able to share in these kind of insights from these guys. Intelligence/ depth/ humour/ emotion and many more colours that just keep you wanting more. Would love to meet Russell at the pub one day and just chat. Brilliant interview

The movie Gladiator will always remind me of my cousin and uncle who passed back in 2006. They loved it as much as I did, and whenever Id visit them, they always had the VHS tape by the VCR because they had just finished watching it. I was on the phone with my cousin when they both passed together in a car accident. My uncle was the youngest of my grandpas kids. Uncle was 18, cousin 19, I was 20 at the time. Damn this brought me back....miss them dearly.
