Do not want to be the 'actually' guy, but as an amazonian brazilian, Pereira is descendant from the Pataxó tribe from the southeastern coast of Brazil, very far from the amazon. Hindsight is 20/20. That said…I believe Alex is on a way higher level than us fans can understand…I say this because even professional fighters, such as Jamahal, come in the fight with the pretense that Alex does do weird shit…but it’s the type of shit that gets you knocked out. Like standing straight up and never circling, keeping your hands down and chin up…and uncovemtianal defenses we’ve never seen like checking the calf kick. I can 100% see Jamahal watching video over and over and pausing it, saying, “this is IT!! This is where I knock out Alex pereira”, then, when the fight happens, Alex throws that bait at ya, you go for that punch thinking “this is it!!! He showed me his chin!” Only to whiff by 1/4” and something that felt like a brick, just smashed the right side of your head!!!! I theorize, that Alex has so much experience fist fighting the very best strikers on earth…that he’s so far beyond our knowledge that none of us even understand what’s taking place in front of our eyes. Like these guys said “never has Jamahal ever even been stunned” nevermind dropped or knocked out. And all of it was true..for exactly how many professional fights though? Now compare that number to Alex’s number of professional fights…and place your bet on THAT knowledge alone. I could almost envision this entire fight before it ever happened. Except in my dream jamahal at least cracked Alex a couple times and made him deal with some aversity. Instead…it turned out to look like the easiest fight Alex ever had in his life, never mind his time in the ufc. And as an American… I always cheer for the under dog because it just makes for a great storyline, even though the odds are forever stacked against that bet. It’s why the house always wins. They make the odds on calculated stats…not the “hopes” that the under dog has his day!!! Dude ended up getting Khaby Lame’d and eating every word of false confidence shoved back down his own throat! There’s a reason that the man who fought him four times and finally won won’t ever fight him again (Izzy) because he know chances are Alex will win the next 3out of 4 times and he isn’t willing to bet against those odds even in himself!!! And another stat to never ignore…in 8 ufc fights…Alex has beaten 5 champions/ex champions, 5 of those wins by ko/tko, only 1 by decision (Bruno Silva who was on a run due to his iron chin, that after being touched by Alex has never been the same) and 1 loss to Izzy out of 4 fights. This dude is clearly special, and clearly on another level, to the point we haven’t ever seen til now, and we’re all still trying to figure him out or see his technique. That punch that did to Jamahal what no ther punch ever did to him, wasn’t even close to the hardest Alex throws. It was a shovel jab/uppercut/hook with no wind up, no arch to gain momentum. It was basically a stiff jab…and put homie DOWN!!! Slow motion shows Jamahal checking out the big screen in the middle of a fight. I bet he was imagining Joe saying “take a look at your work on the big screen” then realized he was actually hitting the mat from a punch. I bet he was mumbling “Pepperidge Farm remembers while trying to stand back up!!! And the only next step for Alex is to learn enough English to market himself better. DC is trying!

Need to talk more about ufc 300’s main card as I am still wondering why Jiri is excluded from the main card when Bo nickel, Justin, Charles and etc. are included. I think most of here knows Jiri and he is a light heavy weight champion at one time and got only one loss

Every fighter with ring rust always gets over-estimated by fans. They forget the fighter has been away for some time.

I wouldn't say hill was overestimated strangely at all. He is the more well rounded MMA fighter. Alex is just really really good with his standup.

Lol. I'm convinced looking back after that fight, most commentators out there were trying to build that fight up because they all knew what would happen

I like Rogan and all, but can he please stop overusing superlatives? Not everything is the most badass thing on the planet. Some things are just ... good.

The speed of Hill was not the "difference".. Pereira very much "ran him over". People need to give Pereira some credit. Keep in mind he is competing against best of the best.

Very interested to see if he can do that while checking leg kicks or keeping his hands up high enough to block a roundhouse kick to the Head or being able to Parry a body kick. I think the kicks come into play too much and with a Achilles heel, not 100%. Give me Jamal + 5.5

its a interesting fight for sure. both guys can finish the other with one punch. the real question is, does jamal punish alex for kicking. if he does not he will be done for quick just look back at alex vs jiri. alot of people say jiri got sloppy and ignore the fact that he could not stand on one of his legs.

Adasanya will be chewing his knuckles off right now, I watched his cringy take with the cackling hooker about how hill was gonna destroy Alex, I guess he just forgot to tell hill to “ watch out for the left hook”. The man is so bitter about Alex , he loses sight of reality
