Ortega MESSED UP by standing h2h with Holloway. After the first round he should have realized he can't do that. In and out in and out and take downs from the start should have been his tactic, and then he would have had a good chance. Holloway has been lucky so far. Aldo made the same mistake as Ortega. Holloway has been lucky: an all around fighter will come and take him down. He is not as good as his supporters say.

I couldn't stand Bisping back in the day. Especially after that Matt Hammil fight but towards the end of his career I found myself rooting for him. Now after his retirement and knowing that he was one of only a handful of UFC fighter that fought clean their whole careers against Roided up one's. I think he's a good dude and fighter

That's not his style. His style is the Diaz way, bang around until your opponent takes you down or you time a nice shot in between the chaos, he said it himself. Max just wasn't a good matchup and sometimes you just face a fighter you cannot beat, no matter how much you adjust.

It might be borring to some, but diffinately the ability to take down and control your opponents on the ground is the main reason why alot of wrestling base fighter excel in mma. Ortega just doesnt have it during that fight and eat a blessed express fist in a process.

@@sershanity8171 That's because Ortega is not a Wrestling based fighter. Wrestler's skills are taking you down and controlling you. He is a BJJ Guy, their skill set doesn't kick in until the fight is already on the ground. Once it's on the ground they can usually make stuff happen. But getting it to the ground is not on the same level as a Wrestler.

He's getting hate, because he was perpetuating the Holloway heath thing, saying that Max wasn't going to make it to the fight, and he needed it in his contract that he'd fight for the "real title" even if Max pulled out. He was setting up some kind of passing of the torch. So it's funny when you see how wrong he was, and how far of a gap there was between the two. Max ran through Ortega like a freight train.

To be fair at least imo, Ortega is just kinda stiff on the feet. Max isnt the first to hit Brian at will on his feet although it was certainly the worst example. A coach can only take the tools a fighter has and improve them...Ortega just will never be that flowing stand up guy. I think he will have that as an Achilles heal against good strikers for the duration of his career. He will improve but I could see Max doing very similiar things to him even 5 years from now. Can only take a fighter so far. I am sure they all wanted it on the ground.

I hope Holloway finally gets proper respect as one of the P4P greats today. His brutal cut to 45 will hopefully lead to 55 just for his career longevity sake. Definitely wouldn’t mind seeing him in a rematch with Poirier and Connor. Dustin would do best to get Max down on the ground, and with Connor I’m not sure how to call that..Power vs precision.

Ortega is tough and has some weapons but he needs some defense! Or a better offense because Max had too much for him and I actually think the fight should have been stopped earlier. Ortega was throwing punches up until the end though

Ortega should've changed strategies through the fight. He has a solid chin but using it to block punches is not a good idea.

It was over when Ortega tried to stand with him, he leaves his hands down a lot, the first round took slot out of him you can see it he looked fatigued already

I think it’s awesome everyone is commending Ortega for his heart but c’mon. He got his ass handed to him. He got dismantled. I feel there is more media focused on Ortega than Holloway. It’s bullshit but I want to call bullshit.
