Louis did nothing but make some poor, but eminently understandable and forgivable decisions. He misjudged the emotional context of some situations and probably made some women feel uncomfortable. But from the evidence we have he was NOWHERE CLOSE to the line where any responsible adult woman could claim to legitimately feel threatened by it. Yes Hollywood is fucked up so maybe in that social context those women feel threatened by situations like that and are PROJECTING that social context onto Louis- but that is not fair - he is not responsible for the ills of that culture (and if he is those women are equally responsible as they are also part of that culture). From what we know he clearly would have responded to a NO appropriately and gone no further. What the women involved have done to him by publicly hanging him for those poor decisions is obviously MUCH MUCH worse morally.

Yeah, but you're a guy. And their reasoning as to why he did it was horrifying to me. If he was doing it as a powertrip over women? That's pretty bad.
@Matt-cr4vv2 жыл бұрын
The issue with Letterman getting ahead of it is that it was a different time. In 2009 it was still bad but the culture was nowhere near the modern day outrage level to try and take him off TV. They also accepted that while the relationship was bad that if the women said yes then it was consent. That would’ve never happened in todays culture. Todays culture would’ve said, and in a way it has some merit, that the staff members couldn’t truly consent as others would because he was their boss in a position of power over their lives and that if they wanted to say no they likely wouldn’t have because of the danger to their careers it would’ve been. But Louis could’ve tried to get ahead of it rather than denying it up until he was forced to admit to it because a story was coming out. Sure it would’ve been better in a sense but it would’ve made no difference. Louis’s actions went public right as metoo took off and everybody was being cancelled no matter what. He didn’t come out ahead of it because he didn’t want to risk all he had going and when he realized he had no choice finally admitted it. In a different time I’d have faulted it but in this culture I can get it. Look at another example like Azis Ansari. They tried to go after him because he had a consensual encounter with someone who then texted him later to say she felt uncomfortable about it to which he apologized for it. People were mad at him for doing everything right. There was no logical way to handle Louis.

Rogan's theory of the whole thing having been power trip over women for Louis CK doesn't really fit in with the way he politely asked for their permission

You don't pick your kinks, but others should be able to choose whether or not to be subjected to them.

I like that he said "this isn't gonna stop until it's illegal". Like bitch we get the habit of liking our peers and being more than that from school. We're raised that way.

This comment is underrated and this conversation is more gross then anything Louis CK did.

I ‘love’ the male perspective of why Matt Lauer had a door that closed and locked. Completely opposite view of what any woman who has been in the situation feels and believes. Not necessarily a door with a button and a lock, but similar situations that are just as scary. Yeah, he was just just lazy… 🤔🤨

It's never a good idea to casually fck with a subordinate, not unless you're in a public relationship. The power dynamic is real. A lot of people (women and men) will submit to a superior if they believe their job (or something else of value) depends on it. Also, with the internet it's pretty damn easy to find people that share your kinks, so there's no need to shit where you work.

This take is so cringe. Louie is out of rogans league when it comes to comedy. Louie doing standup will simply highlight the fact that Rogan simply isn’t funny.

Hmm.. Eliza Shlesigner is a horrible example of a victim of big leaguing since she's literally done the same thing. She lauded herself as being superior to other comediennes while complaining that "they want to be treated as equals" but they're not funny enough to appeal to men because their comedy isn't smart... like hers and Tina Fey's... because she has a WWII joke. Ayup..

So weird how their opinion of Louis C.K. is far more defensive of Cosby.

Cosby raped over 50 WOMEN. CK asked 5 or so women if he could jerk off in front of them and one rejected. Learn the difference and CONSENT
@mattenten5 жыл бұрын
None rejected, all gave consent. 1 of the 5 women worked with him on the set of “Louis” and that’s where the sexual harassment charge came in.
@mattenten5 жыл бұрын
1 sexual harassment charge vs drugging and raping dozens of women. I’m not defending the sexual harassment charge, but these two aren’t even in the same ball park. I have no idea why people compare the two as if there even remotely similar
