Welcome to the faith. I'm always glad to see another person who embraces Christianity on this platform. Would love to see the content grow and just remember for as many nay sayers that there are, there are just as many of us out here who believe.

The idea that everyone was superstitious during that time and accepted the resurrection is an exaggeration. Lucian who he mentions, often criticized belief in the paranormal. In particular he criticized Christians for being gullible and superstitious. The Greeks had a tradition championing logic and reason over superstition for many years prior to Jesus. The gnostic tradition dates back as far as any of the new testament biblical cannon and denies the resurrection. There is no independent/non Christian attestation of the resurrection happening, which you would expect being as Matthew claims not only that Jesus was resurrected but that a bunch of dead bodies in Jerusalem were reanimated. He mentions Paul who never met Jesus claiming that someone else clamed that 400 people had seen Jesus after he died. It didn't happen.
