I knew a guy who was a retired Army Green Beret who used to work with the CIA. He referred to them as the company store. He said he participated in the mission that ended Che Guevara. I am not sure in what capacity he participated, but I believed him. He was an incredibly intelligent, very lonely man who rubbed people the wrong way due to his lack of social skill, but he was an interesting person to know. I often wish I had stayed in touch with him. In fact I tried contacting him a few years ago and found out he had passed just a few months that. I was so disappointed in myself for not doing it much sooner.

What people don't seem to understand is that when you accept the morality in the US conducting things like these then they automatically accept that other countries may freely eliminate people they percieve as threats in a similar manner. You should keep in mind that the German army during World War 2 initially rejected the idea of the Brandenburgers due to the simple fact that they broke the rules of conventional warfare in that they werent uniformed with the german army insignia. While It might be a stretch to say that the morality of the US army is worse than the nazi's I think It's worth pointing out that the idea of this kind of warfare was rejected initially by the german wehrmacht.

i don't know how much of this is boasting and exaggerations from the people she interivewed, or if she is gullible or she is fishing for the most grandiose stories to write her book. I have known many humans who will pump up their stories when they were 1/10 of relaity. I take all tales of CIA operatives with a grain of salt. Her book might be just a CIA funded propaganda to make it seem to the world they are this ever present, all powerful entity that can take you out on a whim. I take her stories for what they are, stories.

Actually, the Department of the Army is the direct legal successor to the Department of War. The Department of the Army and the Department of the Navy used to be separate and report directly to the President. This person, Annie, is a thoughtful person and has interesting things to talk about. The 'conundrum' that we don't deal with death, we are squeamish, in a first world country is very common. People who DON"T have that squeamishness, we call those people sociopaths and keep them locked up. But when you are forced to kill, you have to have killers, and there is a very tangible price for that killer to pay (if they are not a sociopath) A number of books deal with this age old conundrum. And fitting back into a first nation again, what those people experience, is significant too. Lots of WWII veterans did NOT want to talk about their experiences, their children said. Ok, so how does a nation deal with war, especially these days, where we don't even kill our own food, we get meat wrapped up in plastic. In WWII, many more people lived on farms and were far closer with dealing with death everyday. And it's famous that the first kill makes you physically sick. That nation starts off at a disadvantage- but they have to deal with death on a large and small scale, either they fight or capitulate. You want your citizens (and nation!) to survive. My question, when we have "leaders" like that general Milley, who said he'd notify China FIRST if Trump was planning to attack them- how can our nation survive? Yet some people are on Milley's side ! (Because Trump is such a bad person and has been turned into "literally Hitler") MIlley shouldn't be a leader IMO, and should have immediately been replaced with someone suitable. How many of our other "leaders" are like that? And when we "deal" with a nation like China, who "parts people out" by organ harvesting (it's not voluntary either, and it's on a VAST scale. You can drop into China, without notice and pick up a kidney or whatever and be back in Europe in a few days again. They don't have to pre-plan the trip and worry about blood type, etc, the Chinese have all the prisoners health records and only keep them alive until needed) They are currently in a genocide against the Uyghur people, the Muslims who live in Xinjiang. They keep them locked up, millions, and force abortions etc. etc. Savage and reminiscent of Indians in the US, or worse. China "employs" millions of slaves, who get fed, but receive no pay. Other groups are paid a pittance and have one day "off" a month, 2 days "off" if you are lucky. How do we deal effectively with a nation like that, who is willing to sacrifice huge numbers of their subjects (I won't call them citizens) for tactical or strategic advantage. Those are just some 'highlights' off the top of my head. Other nations are like that, or worse. North Koreans try to immigrate (and are killed by N. Korea if caught) and consider China a paradise after North Korea. We don't even really know what goes on there, they are such a closed society. In a country, like ours, where a conversation above with Joe Rogan and Annie is totally normal- can we come up with the 'grit' to effectively oppose China, our greatest adversary?

If history is any evidence, typically the leaders and people you describe who lack that societal "grit" are the first to go when a nation is truely put to the test. Either by outside forces or within to make room for those more suitable for the times. I couldn't say for certain what the outcome would be if the US and China had went to war(I will speculate that the actual victor would be the US for a variety of reasons that would take me 4-5 paragraphs to explain) but I know that the General who made that absurd statement and all the useful idiots amongst his camp won't be around for the result.

I worked as a "support" guy in Air Force Special Operations...we would actually separate folks (like discharge them from the service) and they would go perform a mission and technically they were civilians. After the operation, they would come back and get reinstated in the same position/rank/whatever that they before. The guy who set up the landing strip for the rescue effort for the hostages in Iran, he was Mr Carney when he was setting up those lights.

They have been teaching the fine arts of eliminating one's enemy's since before l was in special warfare back in the 60's . Each branch had its special ways to train . When I was in high school in 61 we had an assistant principal who had been OSS in the war . He knew that I was going to join the Army and go Airborne . He told me some about Special Forces and some of the things they could do . I knew that l had to try for that . All l can say is that it was an exciting wild life .
