Compression and Limiters are used primarily to prevent the stereo systems from blowing speakers on the user's (i.e. your) systems. It can change the sound, but generally doesn't too much. Tone deafness can also change what you think you're hearing, too.

I agree. FUCK and Balance was his best tone. I’ve invested months developing a preset that sonically captures that era of tone on my Axe FX3. Time well spent

Very cool. The closest I have gotten is believe it or not a Soldano capture in my ToneX it beefs up my EVH Wolfgang and almost gives it that Les Paul bottom end and rounds out the sound.

70 to 80% of the tone comes from the fingers. If you heard Eddie play an acoustic you would still know it was him. Joe is an amazing guitarist and a stellar player with different but amazing tone!

IMHO. I think that he could use presets and multiple amps to emulate each era and sound scape. So that he could evolve thru the set list to take the audience with him as Eddie evolved.

I think his tone in his 1 st album is the best , it’s just raw pure guitar tube tone turned all the way up in my opinion

Look to the holy grail of tone and that would be Fair Warning for the Roth numbers and the Balance tone for Sammy era. Good luck to Joe. He also needs to rent a guitar with transtrem for Summer Nights. Yeah you played the chords, but the feel and sound is wrong without those open strings using the floating capo. Good luck! R.I.P. You can try and get his tone, play the licks, but most of it came from his hands and feel. Can't really replicate that part of it.

You can’t exactly say every dave album was the best tone, which one they are all different tone wise in a way especially on certain songs. His favorite marshall was starting to crap out even around the time of diver down and 1984

Yea he did some tunes on a radio show with a small rig appropriate for a radio appearance, why would you judge that when you know damn well come the tour he’ll be using something different? He’s got his marshalls both newer and vintage as well as a 5153 and a older peavey 5150, he could tour with a number of stuff to do this tour
