The guys a legend, the most ground breaking influential guitarist in decades and he gets nothing. WTF! You would think every rock guitar player who worth anything would be lining up to pay tribute. A benefit concert to honor Eddie and send the proceeds to cancer research or something. It's really pathetic!

Satriani is a phenom and can pretty much play anything on an electric guitar. Thats what happens when you hit the esteemed virtuoso level. He’ll tighten it up - and I thought his performance was epic. If the shoe was on the other foot and Eddie had to play a Satriani track with no rehearsal it’d be exactly the same

Eddie was basically writing broadway musicals “each song” - he was profoundly “not a rock player or shredder” - he was just a great musician and composer - it all came out through his guitar - which sounded rock - but his stuff is as rounded and musically creative as Barry Manilow. He was an amazing commercial composer and player. John Williams.

A great example of this is Zakk playing Dimes riffs on this Pantera tour. Zakk is awesome but he does not have the same rhythm/DNA/Feel as Dime, No matter how good he is. People complain about it but why? Its something you cannot replicate no matter how good you are, Thats what makes each guitar player so unique.

Joe satriani spent his life building a legacy and a career that we would all dream of writing his songs. Playing and teaching and touring around the world for more than 45 years, not like youtube player, he is a BIG BIG BIG name in electric guitar history, if eddie had to play a satriani track even with rehearsal, like if i could fly, that's hard for eddie.

Nuno has always something interesting to say, his vision of music is very interesting too. He might not remember this but I believe he played Mean Street live once with Steel Panther if I'm not wrong. He also did a song on drums with them. I drove to Buffalo, NY in 2014 to see Extreme for the first time since seeing them in the early 90s. It was over a 5 hour drive for me. I got to the outdoor venue early and I heard the beginning riff to "Mean Street" over the P.A. and I was like, cool, haven't heard Van Halen in a while. I thought it was a recording, but it was Nuno at soundcheck, who played it note-for-note perfectly and then proceeded to shred for the next 5-10 minutes while I got to the front center of the stage. I stayed there for the next 5 or 6 hours until the show ended, Nuno was on fire that night, and I was freaking out so much during his solo in "Play With Me" that he pointed to me and said, that was for you. Unbelievable night.

Will be seeing Extreme in Newcastle UK on Monday. I am one of the "thank you"'s. I have been waiting for the album ,waiting for the tour because Nuno was doing so much collaboration during lockdown..putting the music out to keep people going...I was..h"e's on a massive wave and something huge is coming." I have not looked forward so much to see a band on tour for ages...I saw Extreme in Newcastle 30 years ago...practically the same seats. I wasn’t a “Nuno” fan back in the day. I liked Extreme but I didn’t think much of Nuno. He was passable. NOW, I love this guy. He’s a connection to my past. He’s part of that time in my life that is long gone. A connection to music that isn’t made anymore. AND I can appreciate Nuno’s talent now. It started with RISE and him talking about Eddie. Then the Rick Beato interview. I started looking up his playing. Damn! This guy is good! The first Extreme song and solo I ever heard had a TON of pick noise. That turned off my ears for many decades to his playing. I’m glad he and Extreme are still around and doing well. And that solo was smoking! 🔥 💨

I very much appreciate Nuno's comments on how a lot of people (bands & fans) thanked him. We do need more of this type of music around. As a 65 year old, I can definitely say that hearing "Six" is something I've really missed. In the late 70's & 80's there were several bands that satisfied my musical appetite, but music today has changed to suit the masses. However, it's refreshing to note that not only older folks such as myself are excited by "Six", but also a much younger generation. I guess age makes no difference. It's just in your blood.....

Well, it took a shitload of years i guess to understand what i knew then. Went to see Nuno in Atlanta on his solo tour for schitzo. I got really lucky and met a chick who knew him and walked me back to his room after the show. She knocked on the door, he answered. I said F'n Finally. He was like Whaaaaat? And i explained next to Eddie he was my other favorite guitarist. He invited myself and my wife at the time in. Offers me a beer and even opened it for me. My wife didn't drink but, he offered her a coke.There were 2 other people in the room but, they were friends of his. He didn't rush me and just sat and chilled and talked to me for at least an hour. In fact i had 3 beers. Haha. Nunos chill af. At that point I'd been playing almost 9 years. Got some excellent pointers and inside tips that helped myself Greatly. But, thru all that. It was just Awesome to sit with him and he talked to me like a bro. Which in hindsight, I wasn't supposed to be at that show. Got lucky cause i live in Alabama and work nights and was off the night of the show. I usually dress the rock and roll guitarist look but, i had on some weird shirt and shorts and like some dumbass fishermans lookin hat. Haha. So when we got done, he took a couple pics and handed me an extra beer for the road. He's very humble but, he knows he's a badass but, doesn't shit on us lesser players. IMO. Great Interview. Nuno is one of the only guitarists who plays with the biggest hip hop singers on tour and can play jazz, rock, metal as good or better than any other guitarists. I love the way Nuno always calls Eddie VanHalen Edward because he has so much respect for him

Im more of a singer/production guy and a guitar hack but my one guitarist has many nice tube amps in his arsenal and honestly it doesnt get better than JCM 800 & 2000 for our recording and live endeavors. The funny thing is I bought a kemper and after Tim borrowed a few days he had to have one!!😂 The convenience is amazing and the profiles are quite real!! I have not put my hands on a Quad but the guy I bought my Kemper from funded his Quad with my funds for his Kemper. Lol!! Its like 2in Analog tape, “forgiving on signal and just pleasant on the ear!” Thanks for the great work and relaxing interview! I need to watch more music based videos like yours but today it seems im drawn to the things I never thought could happen! I will definitely be watching more of your videos soon!! Great explanation from Nuno on Eddie and Joe. I saw all the clips with Stern and Joe and I enjoyed them all! Joe was damn close to Eddie but still put his take on it a little. I'm listening to all the Halen' albums and doing my homework like Eddie originally told me to do in order to become a better guitarist. Had a lot of gains today. I'm in Women and Children First. Halen was like a machine on a mission. My first all time fav track was Cradle Will Rock. They played that song everywhere at the skating ring, on the bus, Etc Etc It just fit my life and era so well. Also liked Kings and Queens Aero Smith and of course Highway To hell. But Kings and Queens and Cradle Will Rock Were huge staples in my life. I'm starting to discover that playing guitar is what I want to do the rest of my life for a living. I want to be sponsored and be in a band Etc Etc I want everything that comes with it including the headaches, long hours, bus rides Etc Etc practicing 2-3 hours a day and today for some reason my practice time just really clicked. I got in top of these stairs in Westwood that resembled a stage, wind blowing, hair blowing, and just let it rio. Never been a shy kid,not since grade school was over and I met my first girl in Jr High. I forced myself to get over shyness. Now I'm a star working and waiting to happen working on his craft til I die or make it, whatever comes first. *** How bout Spanish Flu You Guys???? Is that track ridiculous or what!!! This was an amazing interview! Nuno had some great insight into EVH’s guitar playing. His explanation makes a lot of sense that Eddie was a drummer first and he used his fingers like he was playing percussion on the guitar. Also, agreed that Joe deserves a pass. Sammy admitted they hadn’t rehearsed. I love Sammy, but I agree that he did put Joe on the spot on Howard Stern. Joe hasn’t boasted about being able to play EVH music. In fact, in another recent interview, Joe said Alex Van Halen had called him some time ago and asked if he wanted to tour with Van Halen playing Eddie’s part. He turned the offer down because he wasn’t confident about playing EVH’s music. Fantastic interview! Would love to hear more from Nuno❤

EVH was a pianist before he played drums. A lot of his tapping licks were piano-esque.

Nuno is indeed a truly genuine musician that is more then proud to give credit to all those that influenced him to get to where he is to this day . He never puts himself in a category as being any better then anyone else . Pleasantly humble and just can't say enough about who is the Guitarist that really did change the world of music more so then anyone before or after ,,, That being Edward Van Halen .

On ED's rhythm groove swing on the Right hand finger/thumb tap left hand slap & mute on Meanstreet intro ...It is like percussive because Ed said once it was influenced by bass players like Jeff Berlin from his slap intro on Bruford's 5G ...Ed said - 'The way bass players like him slap I applied to guitar. (put with the right notes tapped with the left hand slaps rather than right hand thumbslaps over the pickups...How Ed invented the rapid fire alteration of those right harmonic taps & left hand note hammers was just extraordinary...I'm the one intro is just pure SWING .....Its like JAZZ swing from his Father. ...It just BOBS and BOUNCES ! ...lol

I called i think 6 hardcore shredder guitarists i know when i heard this, only one had heard it, but all calls were an hour long and all are all still pulling it apart and gaining influence from it. Theres multiple part crazy stuff going on in RISE, but its all very refreshing in a double slap to the cheeks step up and get serious kinda way so thank you Nuno, shock me again anytime. Nuno Remember always Nuno, EVH approves, you played his rig, so speak through his soul because you captured it!

Nuno has some good points, because he is one of the last of the axe slingers and guitar heroes, and because new music lacks tone and style, so a band like Extreme doing it old school in a sense, was refreshing.
