Up until about six years ago at the king's arms pub( now high rise apartments 😡😡🤬) here in Auckland Aotearoa new zealand on the closest Saturday to Joe's birthday we had Strummer Day from around 1pm to 1am some of our best musicians from the past and present punk scene would do their own songs as well as a few CLASH songs in-between band's on the massive screen would be The Clash and interviews with Joe and finish the night with my friends who once a year stopped being THE CITY NEWTON BOMBER'S AND BECAME...... THE BANKROBBERS AND DO A WICKED CLASH SET PUNK and REGGAE. Maybe check them out CITY NEWTON BOMBER'S live at Galatos whole concert it's opening song is their version of GUN'S OF BRIXTON (GUN'S OF NEWTON) SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT LYRICS was supposed to be the last gig for them but they eventually found a new guitarist and are still at it David on guitar moved to new york where ever the hell that is i think i might have heard people talking about that village in the past

This wonderful man is as close to a Hero as it gets for me hearing his voice gets a lump in my throat every time. My 16 year old son is called Strummer Clash Palace. Joe Strummer was a moral compass for me in my teenage years (1980s) he taught me through is amazing lyrics how to treat people and the planet stand up for the underdog and don't look down on people reach down and help them up. We are nothing with out people the future is unwritten so you can make it good or bad with your interactions with the (environment/ people) around you. Ps JOE STRUMMER I FUCKING LOVE YOU YOU INSPIRE ME TO BE A BETTER HUMAN AND PROVIDED MY OLDEST SON HIS NAME IN YOUR HONOR R.I.P JOE STRUMMER REST in PUNK !!!

"Without people you are nothing" Thanks to Joe Strummer, singer, guitarist, frontman of The Clash and above all free spirit. When I discovered music for myself and it started with punk rock and my first guitar in 1992, it was inextricably linked with Joe and The Clash. He is an inspiration in his attitude, tolerance and feeling of injustice to this day. Thank you Joe without you I would probably not have discovered the freedom through music in such a way. I will never forget that. Salut! Huey
